Anyone else feel that Invictus is appropriate here? Out of the night that covers me, Black as the Pit from pole to pole, I thank whatever gods may be For my unconquerable soul. In the fell clutch of circumstance I have not winced or cried aloud. Under the bludgeonings of chance My head is bloody but unbowed. Beyond this place of wrath and tears Looms but the Horror of the shade, And yet the menace of the years Finds, and shall find, me unafraid. It matters not how straight the gate, How charged with punishments the scroll. I am the master of my fate: I am the captain of my soul. -William Earnest Henley
The SA K6BD thread is great. On that note, has anyone else seen the secret pic linked on page 4:78? It's great. Spoiler: if anyone wants to check it out and doesn't want to go find the secrets themselves. May contain spoilers about a certain character's future appearance And bonus non-shadowy version from (I think?) twitter and patreon:
The bad news will come four demiurges later as she learns a fifth way to spin the wheel and laugh at god, and has to give up a previous art.
No, no, it's okay, she's got two HM Mules in her party. The real problem will come when she needs to send someone to the PC.
Since nobody linked it in thread so far, I give you the KSBD Angel Name Generator. First try gave me '88 Sorrowful Hammer Shatters the Unholy' which I kinda like.
Also the alt text is "Allison is going to regret saying that", and I wonder in what way. Possibly because she is now immortal?
I took it more as a 'Mottom's going to be pissed' thing since Abaddon did mention the next ~20 pages will be mostly fight scenes. I am curious about how the whole immortality thing works though since we've seen Mottom is still mortal... which implies the other (human) demiurges are still mortal. How are they still alive?
Mottom wasn't the original owner of the power in her forehead, so she might not actually be that skillful/powerful on her own. Whatever is keeping Hastet alive(-ish) could be sustaining the others.
Also, I appreciate how little sympathy Allison has for Nadia considering how many people have died even within the last 10 years to keep Nadia alive. But I also appreciate that her totally understandable rage and snippiness is going to have consequences.
I mean, I'm sympathetic towards Nadia even though I don't think she's a good or particularly moral person, but. You know. Allison has had a very long day and she just saw the slaughtered bodies of strangers she'd walked with and frankly she is completely out of shits to give.
I thought it was pretty clear that Nadia turned Hastet into a tree. It's one of her powers. We've seen her turn people into plants. I presumed by the time he was finally dead-ish she was kinda out of her mind with stress and relief and adrenaline and turned him into a tree without consciously planning to do so or even realizing it. I mean, it's pretty clear that everything he put her through didn't leave her in the most stable state mentally or emotionally. So it makes sense to me that this thing she clearly sees as some sort of punishment and burden to bear and key to immortality and horrible reminder and monster is actually something that she created by funneling newfound power through her monstrous husband. Someone also pointed out that we also know why Hastet calls for more wives. Yes, he's a misogynistic sexual sadist, but he's also probably not entirely aware of his surroundings and in great pain and confusion. Nadia herself said that their people believed the love of a wife brought warmth and comfort to dead men in the afterlife. Ironically, for all his monstrosities, what he's really asking for is peace and freedom from pain, but all Nadia can think to give him is more blood and death. There is no afterlife, but he is in hell. And the hell is one of his own making, every last aspect of it.
