Adara glared at them. "How dare you," she exclaimed, mock-outraged. "Now I have to get more bacon, you fiend!"

"It'll all be pulled into the black hole. You'll never have bacon again!"

Adara gasped and placed a hand over her heart. "Tragedy!" She then snatched a third piece of bacon off her plate and bit off half of it. "At least that is one half of bacon that is mine."

Jack laughed. "Well, maybe you'll have bacon. Who can say for certain?"

Adara giggled. "True. The fates are mysterious." She munched down the second half of the bacon. "Anyway, we should like. Plan a thing to do today. One singular thing. I haven't stretched my wings in ages, so I was thinking maybe we could go for a walk and I could fly a little?"

"That sounds fine," Jack said. "It has been a while since the last time we wandered around. As long as you're sure we won't run into killer ants or something."

Adara laughed. "If we do run into killer ants, I think we can take 'em. But I'm pretty sure there won't be any killer ants."

"Killer ants can ruin any size picnic," Jack said. "But you're probably right. I heard they finally got the last of them a while ago. We'll have to avoid some other weird creature."

Adara grinned. "Whatever it is, I'm sure we can handle it. After all, you've got your whole cold powers thing, and I can...sense death! I'm sure we'll be fiiiiiine."

  10. North Windbag

"Great, when we die we'll be able to tell." Jack poked Adara, then shoved the last bits of pancake in their mouth. "We'll be just fine."

"Yeah, see, it's gonna be great!" Adara grinned and poked them back. "Being able to know when you're dead is vital, after all. Don't wanna end up one of those lost ghosts, wandering around the camp forever."

  12. North Windbag

North Windbag Jack, child of Boreas

"Okay, you have a point there. But I'd make a great ghost. I'm already cold and all, I bet I'd freak people out something good."

"Yeah, but I wouldn't make a good ghost. My death powers are only good while I'm alive, which is ironic....I think."

Jack nodded. "You wouldn't be a ghost, anyway. You're too cool for that."

"Too cool to be dead. I should try that one out on my dad, when I meet him," Adara remarked, a bit sourly. Her dad tended to be a sore subject. "See if he'll let me pass through the Doors of Death because I'm 'too cool' for it. After all, when you're in the Underworld you're still a ghost--just a ghost in the proper place."

Jack didn't say anything. They stood up and closed their eyes. "You're right. Let's just go."

Adara hummed and got to her feet, abandoning her food. "All right."

Jack started walking towards the woods, knowing that Adara would be right behind them. After a while, they slowed down and said, "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to go that far."

Adara shrugged, having followed Jack in silence the entire time, waiting. " 'S fine." She didn't honestly mind that much, and offered Jack a smile.

Jack smiled hesitantly back. "I know I can be an ass. I don't mean to be, but I am. You can tell me if I'm going too far. I get it."
