No. I mean, I have exploded on Ford when I was really, really angry, but that's not what I meant. I'm talking about how Ford is incredibly exasperating sometimes and yet it only makes me love him more because he needs me and I need him. Gentle exasperation can be a deeper expression of love than flattery or endearments, because it carries the meaning that you know everything that is messed up about someone and you love them anyway, because they're them and they wouldn't be them if they weren't messed up.

 

I've never met a cop worth liking. Their existence in theory is rather cold comfort to the mechs resorting to siphoning out of fear of retribution, and even that rarely saved them.

Dude, you're getting lucky with at least two actual living breathing people last I counted. It's not like you're not getting action and affection. Sometimes you get turned down, and it blows, but you'll get past it. And Sev's not being a dick about it, at least, which might make it harder to get over him, but will probably do less damage in the long run.

And maybe you haven't gotten the chance to see it yet, but he's totally got it in him. From talking to the trolls, I don't think he's had a relationship that wasn't black quadrant in his life, for real. In case that helps you understand.

 

When someone very clearly knows everything that's wrong with you and still adores you, you can trust that.

Blind adoration is terrifying. You have to live up to it. You wonder whether they'll still like you when they find out what a fuckup you are. And you can't rely on them to stop you if you're heading for the light at the end of a tunnel and they see that it's really a train.
