re: how rape works, my understanding of it is basically like.... actual "interfacing" (aka The Full Sex) has the charge flowing back and forth between the two participants, specifically through the gaps in their armour. they don't both need to be generating charge; as long as one of them is zapping the other, that guy will be able to get off. since the actual interfacing only works if there are gaps in the armour for the charge to pass through, and since the gaps only loosen up if the robot is turned on, rape would involve the charged-up rapist forcing open gaps in the victim's armour. picture megatron's big ol fuckin yaoi hands yanking and prying and ripping their way into the joints and seams of bots much, much smaller than him, with the aim of causing as much pain as possible. so. soundwave and jazz are basically giving each other hand jobs, whereas most decepticons are Not.

Spoiler: TGWP 35-onward I just realized Starscream wanted Jazz back not just to thumb his nose at Soundwave, not just for short-term political advantage, but to absolutely ensure that Soundwave supported his uprising. Taking Jazz back and then beating him half to death would do nothing for that. Everyone knows how much Soundwave is invested in Jazz. Controlling his access to Jazz and promising Jazz back if the revolt goes off and Megatron is overthrown would be a pretty damn good way to court his support, especially with the stick of 'if you don't help, we'll kill him, and not nicely'. Starscream is absolutely a petty, arrogant bastard but there was nothing petty about him manipulating things to get Megatron to transfer ownership of Jazz back to his trine. He might even have planted the camera himself, instead of Jazz arranging that like some people have been assuming. EDIT: I mean, his absolutely top-tier goal was Skyfire, obviously. But he sure adjusted to Jazz being his compensation well enough.
That makes sense! I could see rape happening in more than one way. It seemed like it was possible to arouse a bot against their will to the point where there armor would loosen. That would be the way to go if you didn't want your slave bot to spend all his time in the repair bay. But, yeah, bumbee was optimus' right hand guy, he probably got the worst possible experience >>;. I wonder if having large gaps in the joints of armor is considered really attractive to the cybertronians. Imagine risque erotica of bots lounging around with large elbow and knee armor gaps.
Well, I mean, I think that's what Soundwave does, even though he doesn't go all the way with Jazz, so it's definitely possible to loosen the armor in other ways.
I REALLY want something to happen that makes Soundwave just snap. I want to see him lose control and break down in some...soundwavey way. Picking a fight with shockwave was probably the rashest thing he's done, but he convinced himself that his actions were completely logical. I want to see him go beyond the bounds of his own excuses. Thinking out loud. I..get the feeling that soundwave might be terrified of megatron? He obeys Megatron like he expects his symbiotes to obey him, but megs definitely doesnt value him like he values his family. Maybe thats not it, but there was something more going on in that scene where he watched Jazz get annilated by megatron. He only came to his defense when Jazz was about to die. There had to be more going on there then just Soundwave's 'absolute loyalty' schtick.
All in going to say is that there are REALLY big plot developments in the mid-thirties for that fic :DDDDDDD I just reread them last night and it still has me all emotional over this silly ship

Spoiler: TGWP 35+ Wait, people think Jazz planted that? I'd assumed that Starscream (or potentially Shockwave) was the culprit. Maybe one of the other seekers, especially with how invested Thundercracker is in getting Jazz back to make his slave (who I can't remember) happy.
Spoiler: Tgwp 35+ i'm absolutely certain that jazz STOLE the camera, but how and when and for what/whose purpose it ended up in starscream's estate, i am ?????????? edit: actually Spoiler: Tgwp 35+ i am ALMOST positive that jazz meant for it to end up there. i just don't know WHY or HOW, or if it's literally as simple as the explanation he gave perceptor but. i am 99% sure that he wanted it there and that he wanted it found.
Spoiler: TGWP 35+ Well, with the intention of inciting a riot of some kind-- I mean, he basically had Soundwave pushed into a corner where he was frantically barfing all of his blackmail about Shockwave onto Starscream. And then, instead, enough things went wrong (caused by Jazz and the cassettes, with permission) that a riot happened, and Shockwave was deposed. All of which are things in Jazz's favor, even if the brief (and briefly violent) attempt to steal him away was genuinely traumatizing. So I guess it comes down to a combination of 'does Jazz know that Starscream was really gearing for a revolution', 'does Jazz support Starscream in his revolution under the vague hope hed manage to free the Autobot slaves', and 'does Starscream think about Jazz as anything other than a token by which to manipulate Soundwave'.
This is no fair, I want to be involved in the cool discussions, guess i'll have to read faster. :p Edit: Read a bit more, I really hope that Jazz never becomes soundwave's possession. I don't want to see him tamed :(
Spoiler: TGWP 35+ if he planned for the riot he planned FAR ahead!! chapter 14 he confirmed with soundwave that starscream was still being monitored, then he (almost certainly) stole the camera one scene later, then his next Big Move is in the next chapter where he manipulates the combaticons Spoiler: tinhatting who MAYBE, MIGHT HAVE, IT IS NOT IMPOSSIBLE, accidentally brought mirage back with them (like. mirage's options aren't super great, but between staying stranded on a planet with no fuel or transportation and stowing away on a ship back to cybertron, like, yeah it's SUPER RISKY but mirage is Literally Invisible so i. want to believe) which would be a game changer for jazz and would also go some way in explaining why the FUCK he'd get the combaticons to steal hound -- mirage and hound are an espionage/covert operations dream team and if mirage is there he can help hound escape once his collar's off because heyo invisibility + holograph projection powers OKAY i'm done tinhatting i just had to put that out there but it's not until 35 that anything actually happens with the camera. there's a HUGE amount of time between camera-stealing and camera-finding, and if it's all going according to jazz's plan, then when/how did the camera get from his hands to starscream's living room, and what was the specific outcome he was looking for? cause like. a lot of things changed between 14 and 35, and many of the factors that made the riot possible weren't obvious or even present in 15. there's also the problem of just like. practicality. jazz has almost no unsupervised contact with anyone, although he is sometimes unsupervised (or at least not CAREFULLY supervised) on his walks. if he left the camera somewhere hidden and had someone else pick it up, i could see that working, maybe. but he would have to communicate that without giving himself away. and he doesn't really have any free allies (unless tinhat). that also wouldnt be the kind of thing jazz could hide from soundwave in his mind, since it's not like. a subjective thing like his motivations are. (i'm not being argumentative!!! i am just. having a rly good time thinking about this) oh oh also unrelated but. does anyone have any thoughts on the fact that jazz was playing "Tomorrow" from Annie over the scene where he's manipulating the comabticons because. i don't know it feels. important, especially since it got glossed over so quickly in the actual story SORRY THIS GOT LONG, and also is mostly just rambling
