I've been on the fence about this for a long time. I heard about RWBY after Monty Oum's death... and I know the fourth season won't be the same without him. There's nothing that I hate more than feeling disappointed after I'm hooked on a series, so I'd like to prevent it if possible, and some things I've heard about the production of Season 4 are kind of dissuading me from going into it. So I guess the question is: Is it a good idea to try to get into it?
i haven't kept up with it, but i think it's an enjoyable experience even if you only watch one episode and never touch it again. it's cute, it's funny, and the storyline is pretty great. a lot of people (me included at first) really disliked the jerky 3d animation though. i think it's worth the disappointment (if there's any to be had, i just don't have the time to watch everything so i have no idea how good or bad the newest stuff is) of getting caught up just because thinking of a world where i didn't watch it kinda depresses me a little (i don't mean to get over dramatic i just like it a lot).
Depends! It's got rad bits. Just be aware that getting invested in this show wil lead to nothing but constant disappointment on every level. RWBY has all the pieces it needs to be truly wonderful, but misses the mark so completely and so consistently that even though I stopped watching midway through season 2 I'm still salty enough over this show to melt steel beams. It could have been so good! It could have been so, so good!! But it's not. It's really, really not. The fan content is A++, though. It might be worth at least dipping your toes into just for that. I recommend RWBYQuest and also Offal Hunt.
No, no, I totally get that, the whole "thinking of a world without having watched it depresses me" is exactly how I feel about Homestuck. ...And now I'm thinking about Homestuck's ending. :( See, this is the kind of comment that makes me want to stay as far away from it as possible. I can't bring myself to look at Homestuck Fanventures anymore after being the ending... but like.... just... :( I usually like stuff but I don't want to like something bad and if I get disappointed that's the worst feeling in the world and just... ...Is this opinion common in the fandom? Please tell me it's not :( Because if it is, then I'm now also worried I might actually like it. ...I might just forget about it then.
Those are my two cents based on my own relationship with the show. I can't really speak for the fandom consensus on account of only being tangentially involved, but there's plenty of people who love RWBY to bits! There's a RWBY fan thread around here somewhere, even. I am an ocean of bitterness over RWBY. Please don't skip a chance to have an Excellent Rad Wonderful Time because I spilled into this thread.
I'll ask over there, then. Thanks, sorry I brought salt to your memory. Thanks for the reassurance. I'll keep asking around.
