Eh? Our self-repair systems take care of it, at least for small stuff. We're metal, but the metal is alive.

    Well...

I was going to say sometimes, but I think we probably have different frameworks of 'soft'. Since we're a lot stronger than you - no offense, you're very strong for your size - and we're from a very metallic, hard environment naturally. So things that register as soft to me might feel hard to you?

    Yes, but...

Mm, I'm sorry, I seem to have lost the thread of this particular conversation. Perhaps I should recharge soon, too.

As Lacuna says, small wounds can be fixed via internal processes similar to organics'; the patient might need to supplement their diet with the requisite materials during the healing process, but I believe injured or ill organics require more energy and nutrients while healing as well?

Larger injuries we patch or replace as necessary, of course. When possible. Integrating foreign materials is commonplace at least on my planet, so rejection isn't really an issue in my experience-- the hard part is getting a neural connection between surviving systems and the new part.

Welding is a good way to close small enough wounds, yes.

Hey, Cosmina, most of your species isn't nearly as strong or durable as your artificially-created subspecies, right? Did you ever have problems with breaking normal human things when you first changed?

Oh, wait, there was another part to that, wasn't there...

Softness is relative, even on a single frame! The mesh that connects armor plating to allow for extension and flexibility is by nature softer and less sturdy, and of course that around the internal-external barrier (inside the mouth, around the optics, most of the valve, and so on) is that much more sensitive! It's... a different sort of softness than, say, fur, but one could reasonably compare it to the difference between a spinedisc's shell and hide.

...Your world does have something analogous to spinediscs, I hope, that comparison is useless otherwise. Semiaquatic organic, spinal column and ventral plating fused into protective armor around the main body, usually very slow-moving?

Huh. Hyu iz lucky dere, rejeshuns go pretty nasty mit organic beets. Iz in fact often safer to use clenk part till der part grows beck.
-she laughs- Ho heel yaz. Hy personally not as moch as sum, bot hy broke mine share ov knives und cupz before hy feegured eet out. Hed more trouble mit mine tail, mind. Humans don´t haff tails, whole new limb to feegure out, und mine vants to sting too.

I'll take your word for it-- I've heard a few horror stories in my travels, but never dealt with graft rejection myself. Small blessings.

I've lost at least two limbs, but I can't say I've ever had more than I started with. (Does it count as losing a limb if you weld it right back on afterwards?)

Learning to use new limbs, though... yes, that's a trial. [Silverburst attempts a smile, gesturing in turn towards their obviously off-model leg and moderately more well-integrated forearm.]

They do look rather different, texturally speaking, but in the interest of not being a complete aft I hope you'll excuse me if I don't put my hands all over it. It is a lovely tail, though-- does the barb contain a venom sac, or is it just sharp?

So neither of you are scared. That's good, though I reckon if you two were scared by him, the robots would've been quicker to stop lecturing you guys about your approach to the dude.

Hello, it's nice to meet you!

Although, really, I wish it were under better circumstances. It's not something I like to say about someone, but Sal isn't a very nice person. He's someone who has hurt a lot of people, including myself. His betrayal is still quite painful to me, too.

I'll keep him sealed away with my magic, so hopefully, he won't he able to hurt anyone anymore. That is my wish.

That sounds like a good idea to me, Wadanohara. Fortunately at least his awfulness is very obvious.

They work well enough, yes-- now that I've had a long time to practice with them!

I've little experience with full limb construction, but given a quick flyby of your muscular system I could likely say a few things about attachment.

I can only imagine... That must be useful in a fight, though. Am I correct in assuming the release of venom is involuntary, then? We could probably fix that....

(Also, no thank you, I'm not interested in interfacing with anyone I'm not already courting.)

From what I've gathered from medics being annoyed at me it's not the easiest or funnest thing ever.
Seriously. It's just an arm. Or sometimes my leg. No need to always chew me out.
