i think i'd be a half blood (my dad from a magic family, hiding it from my crazy mom) and i'd attend that school as a desire to gtfo.
I transferred out of a desire to get away from my crazy mom and out of my perfect older sister's shadow.
Realistically, I would be going to either the new agey west coast school OR I went to live with my family up in Minnesota in the quieter school (that seems more my speed.) Buuut I wasn't planning on rping a self insert anyway ouo
I'd probably be a pureblood of the Weasley variety- I actually come from a pagan background on both sides (coven born, as was my mom. She came from a different practice than my dad, was supposed to become the next priestess but told her mom to fuck off and left. My early life seriously reads like a bad urban fantasy) but don't have a lot of "ugh, the unenlightened" that some people do. (-glares at the local Wiccan population-). I'd probably be going to SCA to get away from California. I never really liked it here. ETA: but I'm definitely not doing a self-insert. Just fun to think about.
It helps with the "broken and insane" that it's up to the kids whether or not to tell the parents, that the teachers are on their side (mostly), and that they're taught that they have immense power (especially if american schools have an emphasis on wandless magic) And I think we have everything. Raven was the last I heard, I think, but because it stood for Wisdom because ravens are supposed to seem more wise than crows
