We are dead, yes, though death seems to mean relatively little. While we do not age and cannot 8e permanently destroyed save 8y extraordinary means 8eing a dream ghost is quite like 8eing among the living. Almost indistinguisha8le from it really, save the whole lack of aging and permanent dreaming matter of course. We still possess 8lood and can 8leed, and we can 8e killed. We also require food, drink, and sleep. Go without any of those for long enough and you'll suffer a dream death no less painful than a real death of the same variety.

 

That wouldn't make the implications of letting a parasitic creature infest me any better. I'm fine not letting that happen at all, actually.
