It's supposed to be weird for my type of alien to swing pitch unless something's seriously wrong, but everyone knows I'm messed up and our sparring sessions often go rather awry. (Also, I am not sure I agree with that assessment of my species after watching Dipper and Loreli or Mabel and Paz.) *grins* Her type of alien doesn't swing normally ash in a romantic way, but we auspistice for each other a lot.

We're probably mostly red and pale, but so mixed up you can hardly tease the shooshing from the smooching.

Besides, you have power. The other rulers HAVE to take you seriously. You have an army and weapons and magic. All you have to do is be fair to your people, make absolutely sure everyone gets food, shelter, education and medical care and make sure your upper classes don't exploit everyone (which is a lot of work, but worth it) and your people should be loyal to you. And ALWAYS pay the soldiers and take good care of them.

The more warnicorns the better. Can I have one?

Since there seem to be a lot of people with authority in here, let me put a question to you: how do you balance "this task involves considerable risk none of us are experienced with" with "if this task is not fulfilled the entire crew will starve" when giving orders? For that matter, how do you give orders to a ship full of people with many and varied authority issues?

Why the council thought that I was in any way fit to lead a whole ship while fulfilling CMO duties when I only commanded a platoon of medics during the war - or the times when I had to take command, but that's also not applicable - I really do not know. I wish they would remove their heads from their collective tailpipes. Sending more officers and mental health professionals was a start, but I wish they would have done it right to begin with.

I've been trying to do all of that - find an expert, be honest, don't force anyone - so it's good to know my instincts are in the right place, I suppose. Thank you for the advice. I don't know why I thought there might be easy answers - there never are, and if there were by some miracle, it's not like I could take the knowledge with me back to my home universe.

I'm not quite sure what "pale workers" are, although given context, I'd have to say that if we're talking about the same thing they fulfill vastly different cultural roles. My friend @Cloudcrusher of Kalis is one - a therapist, specifically. He helps me and other crewmembers talk through their problems and learn coping skills - if he's allowed, that is. There's somewhat of a stigma against admitting to even having such problems where I'm from, and from what I've gathered here, elsewhere as well.
