Spoiler: mtmte 55 preview OKAY THAT WAS AN OUT FOR MEGATRON THAT I DIDN'T SEE COMING! And I really, really love it!!! And given the way Trailcutter died, just when he was trying to turn his life around and he was reading Towards Peace and all that and given that it was the DJD, I'm really glad that even though he's gone, he's not gone-gone I also really like this twist with how Getaway set things up. I do like, you know, him making a deal that even the Autobots who sympathized with Megatron wouldn't be killed in the fight (at least that's what I assume he meant by 'the other autobots'? i don't know why he'd feel like he had to make a deal on behalf of the autobots who wanted megatron gone). It's less-awful of him than it looked at the outset. I REALLY like people trying to wriggle around the realities of life and get their optimal outcome no matter what's reasonable, and Getaway is a loyal autobot, so I like him trying to preserve autobot lives, even ones he disagrees with. Especially with Skids as part of the party. And I'm extra-liking his crooked deal not working out at all. He did not deserve to get everything he wanted, and it wasn't reasonable of him to expect that he could have his cake and eat it too. My read of the situation was that he figured he could either persuade the Megatron sympathizers that this was for the best, or that he could be like 'whatever, I got my way' and leave them to find their own way home apart from the lost light. I really want to see Getaway when he realizes Skids is dead, though. Just in general, I really like this. It's a more human/sympathetic/etc picture of what Getaway was trying to do, at least the way I read it. It's less cruel than it looked at the outset, if he was at least trying to make a deal to preserve autobot lives. And it's possibly a partial explanation for why upstanding autobots like thunderclash and perceptor were willing to side with him (though tbh, I am torn on whether I want thunderclash to keep being comically perfect, or whether I want him to have some kind of flaw, like compromised morals or something when it comes to megatron) I dunno, just. Lots of nice nuance that I still haven't processed and that I really enjoy. Edit: ALSO DEATHSAURUS! PRECIOUS SON! I want you to do a good and be happy and have your crew and maybe also be best friends with the lost light and send lugnut back to cybertron to hang out with strika and obsidian! But mainly oh my gosh, Deathsaurus, FOLLOW YOUR HEART, BRO! I BELIEVE IN YOU!
