Substantially more murderously in both of our cases. Much indulging of our berserker impulses.

Honestly, I wonder if you would have turned out similarly to that rather bitter troll. The one called the Handmaid. At any rate there'd certainly be a great deal more blood.

We don't have to have a debate, Kumari.

But if we decide not to discuss this further, we are going to have to agree to disagree with each other about it.

Often. They're probably going to cull me eventually, and they're not going to cull me any deader.

Don't like questioning things that work in my favor. Interesting, yes, but unless replicable elsewhere mechanisms: not worth further study.

...also note: doesn't fix phrasing issues, just translates directly. Raem only knows what it does to nonliteral expressions.

(For the record: parsing in Neocybex, with... odd additions, can only assume concepts are duly translated as well. Almost certain I don't know what <> means in normal thread, for example.)

    saxifragousBrocard -0 Suffering.

-0 While I respect your desire to start a fight, I'm uninterested.

-0 Believe I said a culled grub is not murder, not that lost potential is irrelevant.
-0 Simply because something is not a person doesn't make its death something to shrug off.

    -0 ?
-0 Why would this question be out of line? It is a topic of the present debate.
-0 I have difficulty seeing anything without the capacity to think for itself as a person.
    -0 Although-
-0 A moment, I've begun to debate myself on this.

((OOC: @crocellsApostate abt last night, I'm sorry my boy is such a dismissive ass lmao))

I know that this has gone past, but I feel it needs addressing. Blaming adolescents for the views they've been indoctrinated in because their culture is frankly a hellscape is doing no one any good. Acknowledge their responsibility for the harm they've caused, yes, but derision does nothing but make people feel isolated if they do try to express some deviation from those views. I've held some truly abhorrent beliefs in my time, and I'm grateful to the people who helped me see that. If you want things to change, this is not the way to go about it.

Of course, if you just want to let off some steam, you're justified in that. I suppose we really can't change much in any significant way in here. But I felt it was important enough to say something about.

The personhood debate comes up so frequently that it's hard for me to see a way to be nice about telling people 'no, that is a person' when it's going to have the same end effect as being mean about it, which is to say no effect at all, because almost nothing we say here is going to carry over to our respective canons.

You'll have to excuse me for being snide. Not being a person makes it an eency bit hard to do proper person things.

Oh, I thought new ideas were simply a natural result of encountering different viewpoints, and that the new people who come here all the time aren't obligated to read several hundred pages to find when topics have been brought up before. Silly me. I thought perhaps the fact that people are changing their minds here would be heartening, because if they can accept new radical ideas of personhood here, there's potential in their own canon. I'm not saying you have to like that people have awful mindsets. I'm not saying you have to be nice, either. I'm saying that perhaps this method won't bring about your preferred end result.

I'm sorry if I've made you feel that you weren't a person, though. That wasn't my intent and I sincerely apologize.

Yes, let's rehash the exhausting 'are people really people' debate over and over again, because not opening our dumb mouths and saying 'I think you're not a person' is the height of politeness. I must have missed that lesson-- do they only give it to real people? Makes sense I suppose, since real people are the only ones who get to question that sort of thing.

It's not you specifically making me feel like I'm not a person. It's the constant reoccurring debate, which never factors in differing modes of sentience, which is always started by those within the relative position of being able to deny personhood without consequence. That is what reinforces that everything the Senate said was right and true and everyone died for no fragging reason because apparently that's what being a person means: being a killing automaton with no ability to consider the morality of the issue without instantly denying any wrongdoing.

    I. I am going to step away for a bit I think.

When so many people are in one place, someone will eventually start a fight. Title even says "rave," it's not a revel without at least one corpse.

Fairly sure the corpse already happened-- very early on? @Vegetoid got... stabbed? Trampled? Don't remember clearly, don't feel like properly searching logs.

Don't really care about reassuring anyway, only providing explanations.
