no this is totally me i'm like NO I NEED TO SAVE MY 6 MONTHS OF REBLOGGING RANDOM ONCELER FANDOM ADVENTURES THIS IS IMPORTANT STUFF THAT NEEDS TO BE PRESERVED But yeah, I'm going to continue clinging to tumblr for a while longer, I think, I managed to curate who I follow and how my blacklist works to a degree that I almost completely get positive feelings from the content i see on my dash- and it's my #1 source of being able to save good photos for art reference later (see my folder of 800+ pictures of trees and forests, and that's one of several folders) plus I just. Don't know where I'd put my art otherwise, for the time being at least. Putting stuff on devart or furaffinity, though I probably should start to do more on furaffin at least, sorta feels like shouting into a cold, sonic-filled void, and i've just started dipping my toes into twitter & really don't know what i'm doing besides that. I finally start getting confident enough in my art to start posting it online, and everything starts falling apart l: so i guess it's time to at least figure out how to work HTTrack, cause i really do need to protect my 6 months of onceler fandom adventures, and whatever followed in the other 4-5 years of my tumblring
well, i've signed myself up on soup! now if only i could figure out how this thing works...... i probably won't be leaving tumblr just yet though. original content isn't a huge issue (90% of my original content there is also posted somewhere else) - it's that tumblr makes discovering other content so easy. and yet it is so aggravating... hrm.
1.3.2 now - and just got more blaring ads. script blocker for chrome stops them after about 1/2 second or less.
Think I figured out why my uploads of my Tumblrs stopped working. Well, new side project for when I'm bored and wordless: reblogging the best stuff of the sideblog to a NEW sideblog. Simplify and filter this stuff.
question for soup users: does it have a storage cap like wordpress does? b/c if it does i might. just have to brave httrack. (in other words, i also reached the upload space limit)
I have been going through the stuff wordpress imported and removing little reblogs and stuff that only relate to tumblr - some aren't so little (big pics and stuff) so I can spam followers with my OWN pics :)
I think Soup is not importing - it looks to me like it just keeps links up to date. So if tumblr poofs so does the connection to Soup. (I don't think tumblr is going to poof, just be too unusable for me.) (Still backing it up to my puters with httrack, just in case.)
will we still be able to use our sites normally if we back our tumblrs up to httrack? it said something in the directions i was looking at that you couldn't import it back into tumblr and i wasn't sure what they meant by that.
It takes your tumblr stuff and COPIES to your machine. Your tumblr is still there. The warning is that it is not a backup - if tumblr deletes your stuff, you can't use httrack to put it back.
I am looking at soup but I am really not liking the only showing the most recent response feature? context of things is super important to me, I don't know if I can function without. context. Also it should be noted that I've only used tumblr on my extremely out of date mobile version since the thing dropped and it's like nothing horrible has happened at all.
I'm still figuring out Soup. Need more posts on it to see what it does. I did manage to figure out how to react to a reaction. Not real impressed with it mostly because it isn't similar to anything I've used before. Doesn't have any easy way to see who the people you are following are following, which is what makes tumblr work - I don't want to see my own stuff, I want to see what everyone else is saying. I know what I said. Wordpress is better about that. Still learning Wordpress, too :)
Wordpress does seem to allow multiple blogs. Log in to your main. Click upper left "My Site". At very bottom left is "add new site". Takes you to creating a new site similar to when creating original. I don't have a use for another so don't know how much connection the new one will have to your parent site.
Up in the top left hand corner, there is a dropdown box that says "people". From there you can choose "friends of friends" and see what your friends are seeing, which is very useful to me with my small following count. Shortcut url = http://www.soup.io/fof
Organizing my new blog is making for an interesting memory-lane exercise. Also, Wordpress posts are sorted with both "categories" and "tags." Tags are optional. Categories are not.
