fun* and new feature** i discovered tumblr does when you listen to something on your dash (not necessarily an ad) then exit out of tumblr: when you go back, the thing starts playing again with no prompt on a loop and you have no idea where it is. also confirming 1.3.1 stopped ads and 1.3.2 started them again at random times. *by fun i mean stupid **by feature i mean probably a glitch, but it scared the shit out of me
Guys, I'm serious, could someone please answer what do I put for Wordpress "what kind of blog is it" question?
So another friend of mine found a thing called imzy. It's closed/invite only right now but it seems better for conversations than soup.
EDIT that is not actually an edit: Further investigation into imzy reveals that they're also planning to include donation functionality to it? Forget tumblr, this things might replace Patreon and its shitty form of "say you're going to donate, un-sponsor before money is actually taken" problems. The one bad is that is says no pornographic content, which I know a lot of folks generate cash on nsfw commissions. (They're okay with general nsfw, but their definition of porn is the very broad "exclusively to generate sexual arousal" type.) Things that ARE good: Multiple usernames/identities linked to one account and an anonymous function. They are down on glorification of self-harm, one of the things that tumblr is REALLY bad about.
That's pretty close to the legal definition of "obscene" in the US - really hard to define, but gives them a reason to boot things.
Wordpress is more restrictive - NSFW is allowed but cannot be sexually explicit, which eliminates even art that is not "obscene".
Soup.io is probably more difficult when making art of "might be minors" since Austria does not consider art and RL as different things in that regard.
Note that "nude minor" is not a bad thing in almost all places except tumblr. It's the "art of a minor in a sex act" part that is risky outside the US, and soup.io is in Austria so, reasonably, conforms to their laws. Their terms of service are pretty good at telling what they have to do when the police knock on their door.
Yeah, and they are US based - Utah, specifically. Salt Lake isn't as bad as the rest of the state but I don't know how much that will color it, and the community is too new yet to have a set of standards of behaviour. ...which is part of why it's appealing to me, but.
ok that definition makes me want to see how i can push the envelope 'no see this isnt exclusively made to generate sexual arousal, it's also supposed to generate horror'
Well, in the US, that would get it past the "obscene" definition - and Imzy is apparently in the US - however - corporate interpretations may vary from legal ones :D
