Hey there, forum folks! Wow, it's been a long time since I've been on one of these. :) I'm feeling very nostalgic.

Anyway, my good friend/partner in crime @thegrimsqueaker has been pitching this place for a while. I signed up a little while ago, but have mostly just been lurking while I waited for things to settle down in analog space.

    Things to know about me:
    1) Professional wordsmith (I write/edit for my second job, and run social media at my day job).
    2) Am pretty much forever oscillating between Dragon Age and Assassin's Creed replays.
    3) Lesbian/Sapphian. I identified as bi for some time and have spent the last two weeks marveling at the idea that people actually gatekeep MEMES on Tumblr.
    4) Delightful mental health cocktail of ADHD, OCD, anxiety, and idk maybe some other stuff it's a good time.

It's nice to meet you all! :)

Never let it be said that I don't eventually do the right thing!

(AKA usually what Grim suggests like a year before I follow through)

    Thank you for the welcomes!

It's kind of hard to pick! I've played...probably over 200 hours of Inquisition? So it's an obvious contender. However, DAII is really important to me (development issues aside!) so I'd probably say II :)

    SAME HAT :D

Well, technically DA2 and DAI are tied for me, but still. *looks at 700 some odd hours of DAI playtime* *kicks it under the rug and whistles innocently*

What is it about 2 that grabs you? (It's a lot of things for me, but a big part is Fenris and his backstory (he is very Relatable), and a big part is the whole band of misfits dynamic.)

    Yay!

I think it's the characters that really make it for me. I love the smaller story and pacing. I also really, really love Marian Hawke's character design/arc. You almost never get to see female characters fail in quite the ways she does, and while I love that you have choice in the games, I'd love to see more static female characters like her.

I'm torn, because I really love the variety of characters in DAI, but I do like that DAII had fewer companions, but gave more time to each of them? If that makes sense.

Yeaaah, DA2 is smaller and more intimate and it can feel a lot more personal as a result. DAI is kind of sprawling and it can feel really distant. It kind of make sense with the Inq being thrust into the role of a big important religious figure - even Varric is awed by them! - but it feels really... lonely. I really made that work with my canon Inquisitor, but there's nothing like DA2's feeling of getting into shenanigans with Hawke's rabble rousing pals.

And I hear you on Marian Hawke! Even though I always make custom faces I like her default design a lot, and I like that her life is just as much of a disaster as her male counterpart's, and her personality shines through just as strong. I also love Jo Wyatt's voice acting. Nicholas Boulton is usually a little too hammy for me, whereas the way Jo emotes feels more... idk, not real, but I can relate to it better? It's a bit understated.
