We came up with these a long time ago.

    1. Don't sleep with your clothes on.
    2. Don't sleep anywhere except a bed.
    3. Don't get up when it is dark outside.

Violating one of the Laws of Sleep will result in sleep that is only sort of restful. Violating all three will generally make you feel worse than when you dozed off.

Ok. If you sleep in sweats and then get up and change into other sweats and then that night you sleep in those sweats does that break rule #1?

I feel like the only immutable one is 3- and that's why school should never be at 8 in the fucking morning. But I always sleep in the shirt I wore that day, and am not comfortable in any traditional pjs generally. And I have slept on some hella comfy couches. In general though yeah, these are good guidelines. Also if possible, try to wake up pleasantly- either on your own, or to a gentle alarm. I find waking up suddenly due to yelling or dogs barking makes me feel more stressed and tired than I probably would have otherwise.

There's serious SCIENCE!!!11!! that says early start times for school for adolescents are bad. Some districts have implemented reasonable times. Of course, the only ones I know of are richer than fuck.

Yeah, I saw that floating around awhile ago and it doesn't even surprise me a little. Iirc I also heard about some school in Florida that implemented a pretty neat thing where they had three different starting times for school and students could choose the one they wanted. It was some experiment, and I never saw results for it unfortunately.

3 is relative - because I've lived in countries where the sun doesn't rise until 10 or 11 in the morning. And I'm definitely awake before that time. (I've always gotten up at around 8 in the morning)

Honestly, I don't like sleeping in beds. I'm not sure why. If I can, I will sleep on a couch. Recently, I've been sleeping in a nest of pillows and blankets in the corner of my room. It takes me longer to be fully awake, but once I am awake I feel better than if I'd slept in a bed.

So basically I disagree with rule 2.
