might i have a code? ravenstarfall@gmail.com should do the trick, it's an old email (named after my guild wars character when i was 11 or so)
basically, whenever you make a new comment/post or create a community, you have the option to make a new profile to post that comment/post/community under. that's the only way I've found of doing it.
eeeeeeyup. I found it potentially the most annoying thing on the website thus far, and that is saying something because I cannot stand how....white the background is.
i'm in! thanks, @Starcrossedsky! :D i'm carnivorousmoogle on both imzy and soup, imma have to check them out in more detail later aw yiss
so i've had some success with x-kit and ad block and script block for the sounds. but now it's impossible to watch tumblr-hosted videos on my dashboard and it's like. i expected it but it still makes me upset i have to choose between 'no disruptive sounds' or 'watch cute cat videos'. i know i can get around it by opening a link to the post in a different browser but still. frustrated at the fact.
I've been tweaking the script blocker so hosted videos play. Haven't seen any sign that the ads are still running, though. They used to run for a tiny fraction of a second before being blocked, but I haven't heard one do that since Saturday.
so, for imzy i got this back from the customer people, after a little chat window opened in the bottom corner asking about opionions. I asked about blogs, and the profile thing. Heya! We do have the concept of "personal communities" which can function similarly to blogs. You can also set a community as "restricted" as you want, so only you can post. We intentionally don't want folks making profiles before they're actually gonna post or comment, sorry! Basically, we don't want people to just sit there on their account page and spam create new profile names that they never intend to use, just for the purposes of taking up the namespace.
....but what if I intend to post or comment, but want to make sure I have that profile name for a thing? uuuuurgh. I don't know. I just don't like it.
yea, its a really clunky solution. [Edit:] Like, I understand the reason. I know about a bunch of people on tumblr who did that with tons of urls, but this isn't an effective solution. Its the equivalent of making someone take a sip of water to unlock a well.
yeah, like, I get the not wanting people to hoard urls like people on Tumblr have, but...idk. I just don't like it! for reasons.
A more effective way I think would be for them to cap the number of subaccounts you have, the way they do communities. b/c honestly who needs a different account for every single community they're in? @chaoticArbiter @QuotableRaven if ya'll feel strongly about it you should make a post to their main imzy community about it, because feedback.
I don't have any extensions on my tumblr right now and granted I don't go on terribly much, but I haven't gotten any audio ads in a while
