C: thanks! I have now completed the plaza, basic idea for the tea shop (which can be changed at the request of wixbloom), and the hub for the tunnels so people can quick travel around
There is also tall grass to run through :3 I am having fun just making things to look at and interact with
my house is in the biggest orchard, surrounded by walnut and apple trees. it's got a biggish ground floor with a common/living room big enough to host tabletop games, dinner parties, etc. the upstairs is about half of that, with a balcony where i can lounge in a hammock and read and sip iced tea in the dappled shade of the walnut trees. except when the walnuts are ripe and dropping. then i read indoors. those things hurt, man.
Ahh this is cool!!! If it's not too much trouble I'd also like Ivy's house explorable. Or. "House" is a bit much it's their workshop actually. It's basically one kinda big lofty room with a kitchenette seperated off by curtains, it has a glass dome ceiling tinted heavily (in a greenish shade so everything looks kinda green) so there is lots of light. Most of the interior is shades of grey or cream so neutralish, there is a pile of fabrics in the corner next to the kitchenette. It is ontop of a commode (where Ivy stores their actual own clothes) It looks kinda like a nest, all the fabrics are atrocious patterns and colors. Over that is a canopy made from some sage green silk (basically just nothing gauzy) strewn around the room are some carpets and a lot of pillows for sitting on, a coffee table with some books on them (photo books for inspiration mostly) a few low shelves on the walls. Somewhere needs to be: a sewing machine, a weaving loom, a spinning wheel or something like that (automatic/sci fi looking would be preferable for the tools), a few slightly neater piles of balls of fabric. A pinboard with designs could be cool too, I can send you like scans or something of my usual 'fashion design' sketches? And possibly a mannequin or two. In the kitchenette there definitly needs to be a coffee machine and a refrigerator that when interacted with leads to the text "...That's a lot of raw meat". (And idk a bathroom door would probably be a thing but that doesn't need to be explorable)
HURRAY FOR TERRIBLE PAINT ART if this isn't useful/you have questions just say so. Spoiler: basic blueprint & description A) The entrance, obviously. I kind of imagine the surveillance/communications room being at the bottom of some other building, in the basement of the security building or something. The door is probably kind of unremarkable, but has some kind of 'humorous' Do Not Enter sign on it, not necessarily actually appropriate to the use of the room. B) Mirrors' chair. Usually occupied by a Mirrors. Is an office chair of the comfortable kind that will both spin and recline/rock but is probably a touch shabby. C) Mirrors' desk. Has on it: a computer. Multiple notebooks with random scribbles and doodles. Action figures/figurines/toys of things like Doctor Who, MLP, Lord of the Rings, Disney. Small fluffy teddies. Mostly, just MESS. It looks like someone more or less lives at that desk. Food wrappers and suchlike too; a jar of lollipops DEFINITELY, cookie crumbs too. Leaning in one of the corners is a longsword with a red hilt and a black scabbard. Underneath the desk, if you choose to look, is what looks like a pile of very lived-in blankets and pillows and maybe a small mattress. D) The Surveillance Mirrors. They're arranged around the desk for easy viewing and probably have views over just about every public area of the settlement and the Great Wall of Nope at various intervals. E) Two smaller mirrors arranged within easy arm's reach of Mirrors' chair, used for communication and for casual food theft for the most part. F) A small flashy/noisy alarm thing for if something Bad is detected by the automated systems at night or if Mirrors is distracted. G) Filing cabinets. Nobody knows what's in them and Mirrors won't say. Is probably personal possessions rather than anything attached to job. Unlikely that Mirrors would let any player character look in them. xP H) Basically the communications switchboard. 99% automated but needs keeping an eye on. A weird mixture of old-fashioned phone switchboard, computer, and various mirrors. I) The bathroom. Should you be able to go into the bathroom, it should have a shower as well as toilet/basin, and there should be things like a toothbrush/toothpaste, shampoo, hair styling stuff, shower gel etc there. I keep thinking a message along the lines of 'you're starting to get the feeling someone just plain lives here' would be amusing.
Awesome guys! May I request though that house descriptions and blueprints be pmed to me? That way I don't lose them in the flow of the thread
...i'm thinking all of a sudden that mirrors' headset they always wear is something to do with the automation of the communications switchboard. Like. allowing their powers to match mirror with mirror so people can talk without them having to concentrate on it every time because it's a pain in the ass. No idea how it would be done but... -throws sparkles- MAGIC!
@Void @Kaylotta re: library: since i mentioned a new library section being excavated, dunno if you caught that - the library is at least partially underground, and buried, media and all.
@whimsicalobservant I did write that down in my notes, but thanks for the reminder. Perhaps there is an above-ground wing, but it continues deep underground and possibly branches out and maybe there are other libraries, older libraries, deep in the city ...
@Kaylotta network of libraries. magazines. tribes of lost students - wait, wrong town. aboveground would work well for reading sections and working cabins and stuff like that maybe even a cafeteria.
VERY PROBABLY YES Which likely means they don't actually have human ears under that headset after all. They just like to leave people guessing.
I'm imagining the library slowly spreading underground, long narrow halls flanked by bookshelves tunneling through the colony. It's like the library is a tree or fungus. :D ...God damn if we don't use it here, I need to find a use for a living library somewhere.
