If you know where you went wrong and you don't intend to repeat the action, what would be the point of punishment?

The only thing I have ever learned from being punished was that some people like having the power to hurt people.

Punishments that aren't restitution are just the authorities taking revenge on behalf of the injured party--assuming there is one--or an attempt to induce repentance using tactics that are more likely to induce resentment.

Though sometimes the death penalty and/or lifelong incarceration are intended to remove people from society once they have proven they are a menace.

Anyhow, you strike me as a very good person.

Hmmm, okay. Maybe you should just come up with a minor 'punishment' he can carry out that will quiet that brain circuit without actually being painful for him.

When my nephew Meyron was a kid and insisted on being 'punished' I'd send him to do some minor chore that had to be done anyway or make him do an extra hour of homework.

 

Making him see a medic will be enough of a punishment, the way he fusses. Also because Triage is mean. So very mean.
