I think Sapphire's future vision isn't always that clear? I mean, if Garnet focuses on the subject at hand, then she can probably see the variables -

Yes, this is what I think was implied in Cry For Help - she has to contemplate a particular thing to get future visions about it.

Also, since Ruby saving her was the first thing Sapphire didn't foresee, I have this general idea that Sapphire future vision (as in the power Sapphires have, not our Sapphire specifically) evolved (or was developed?) around Gem society, Gem behaviour, Gem everything. Fusion for purposes other than fighting didn't fit into that paradigm, which is why Sapphire didn't predict it. Life on Earth is still surprising and confusing at all times, particularly to a Gem, so Garnet's future vision can't find a solid pathway to predict.

It may also be that she saw many potential arcs for Amethyst, but also saw that there was nothing she herself could do that would have a better outcome. Maybe she foresaw that, if she were to try to explain the situation to Pearl, Pearl would react in a way that unintentionally made it worse and it could snowball into a huge rift between the Crystal Gems. Maybe she foresaw that nothing she (Garnet) could say or do personally would actually make Amethyst feel any better. Or maybe she didn't foresee the battle with Steven because she wasn't thinking about possible futures relating to Amethyst dealing with these emotions, because she didn't know Amethyst was having them in the first place - she knows about A's general insecurities, I think, but it didn't occur to her to concentrate her vision on whether the fight with Jasper had exacerbated them. If that makes any sense...

Well you could interpret that she took on some of Jasper's values: specifically seeing herself as a failure and a joke, and if that's the case she's already working on that as of Steven vs Amethyst. It's not exactly resolved but she's working on it. While Jasper hurt her deeply, I feel like with all of the love and support she gets it would be really hard for her to turn into "a mini Jasper".

With Jasper I feel like ... fighting and being a jerk is the only thing she really knows, so that's all her personality and identity revolves around. Any ego that revolves around a couple of things instead of being able to learn and adapt to different ways of being is going to be really fragile by default. She drives people away because she treats the people around her like crap. So there's no one there to go "hey maybe you should learn how to not be a jerk and you will probably have friends and be a happier person" and even if there was, who knows if she would actually listen to them (because even if she would never admit it or maybe she doesn't even know it, but she'd probably spend a lot of energy just trying to protect herself because she can't tolerate challenges to herself and her worldview without breaking).

She's like... one big undeniable shock away from corruption.

Amethyst has a lot of insecurities and complexes, but she can recognize when she'd messed up. She also has friends and family to support her, and her worldview isn't as rigid or toxic as Jasper's "strong fight to live another day and the weak are embarrassments that deserve to die". So I think she'll be ok.

I think it's also that Garnet just guesses wrong sometimes which path the future is going to take. We saw that in the first episode about it; she gambled on Steven understanding her better and being happier and instead he had an anxiety meltdown. And she can't always know everything that could happen because that would require omniscience, so in this case she could have been looking for futures where
she runs into Jasper, but since she wasn't in Beach City this time she didn't realize Jasper could show up there in this tributary of the timeline.

you know, if the word "embedded" can be used to describe a thing on or in somebody's body, it's probably gonna freak me out

but that's so cool and gross, I want it to be canon now

    ...oh shit I just realized

    Desert glass wasn't corrupted

Desert Glass wasn't a monster ever. She would be like Lapis, insulated against the diamonds because she was in an object. Her building crazily would just be because she was trapped for so long, like Lapis was...

I'm getting fonder and fonder of the idea that Jasper doesn't really fit in with modern Homeworld society. Her whole thing is personal strength in combat, and what we've seen of modern homeworld implies that's... less of a thing. There are gem destabilizers, why are personal weapons necessary? Her last great battle was probably the Earth rebellion, back when actual combat was a thing-- you just have to look at all the weapons scattered on the battlefield to know that. I wouldn't be surprised if she jumped at the chance to face off with Rose again, and that's what brought her back to earth-- remember her disappointment at Rose not being there? My theory is that any redemption arc we see for her is going to play on the angle that she's as much of a misfit as the Crystal Gems, in her own way. Homeworld doesn't particularly need warriors, these days.

a friend on plurk just put fandom views of Jasper like this:
I am very okay with it

    They continue:
B: ...she claims steven is like a shit version of rose, yet she is still desperately showing off to him
    A: seriously
    B: what a nightmare
A: she seriously just stood there and watched while stevonnie slammed their sword on her head
B: "nice" she thought as she slammed through her dog

Be warned that today's long episode has already leaked. This is the one the Crewinverse has said will change the game in a lot of ways, and spoilers will probably be intense. (I have it buffering now.)

What I've heard is, (a) we get to meet another of the old Crystal Gems
    (b) We get a hell of a lot more worldbuilding lore
    (c) It's gonna hurt our hearts.

aww man she can turn her hands into whatever!! this is so rad!!!
.. omg amethyst deVOURING that burrito thing
ok there's no way this infinite power weapon evil temptation thing is not thematically relevant to the plot
i'm decided now that rose quartz probably isn't pink diamond, or at least i hope she isn't. it's too cool that she's a quartz.
ok, the fact that bismuth is working on some kinda superweapon is a little scary ...
THESE LAVA GOLEM THINGS ARE SO COOL OMG
ok there's no way the CGs are gonna be cool with shattering all their enemies.. right? right?? yeah steven's not cool with it. and bismuth's even got the shadowed eyes of evil -

it wasn't funny when she said the pun the third time. lol. it was upsetting.

    AHA I WAS RIGHT

ha ha ha, so rose DID bubble bismuth. well, it's cool that rose also refused, although you could probably make a case for the superweapon being a good choice, but it's not cool that rose lied about it too the others...
oh man i bet the thing where bismuth is also calling steven rose is a deliberate jasper parallel, huh? .. steven can't you just fly out of here
.......... sad bismuth ): ): ): this episode isn't lookin good for rose's legacy, huh?
    - wow, i had no idea the whole thing had gone by, it felt so short!
