Mm, some minor things, how to trip certain switches and override certain protocols. I certainly couldn't write something as complicated as one of us [they gesture at the other transformers in the area] from scratch, but I know enough to... [They pause, face falling for a moment.]

Well. Enough to get by as a physician. I... do not fancy the idea of trying to rewrite complicated, deepwired behavioral protocols blind. And if my mentors knew how, I was not taught before they died.

[They shake their head, force something approximating a smile.] Creating a language? That must be an impressive undertaking. I hope your... lapyen? Is that a name, a title, a term of endearment...? I hope they find it as fun as you say, in any case.

    its her name!

ehhhh. i've made languages before. just for fun yanno. but my teach always said they were too complicated, which is like the point. i wouldnt use them for serious stuff, not if there was a timecrunch, but it's a...

puzzle! but its like um... gigo, yanno?

Full languages? I'm no linguist, I've only a passing knowledge roughly a million years out of date, but... that sounds impressive.

I... am not sure what "gigo" means. Explain, please?

not languages for ppl. languages for machines. not u machines, dumb machines. u kno they only do what u tell them, but u tell them in languages made for it. gigo is garbage in garbage out. bad code or unclear instructions result in freezes or crashes or garbled nonsense, but that's not the fault of the interpretor! it's user error, lmao.

there are metrics used to determine if a given programming language is like, 'complete', in that it can do a certain set of things. but the point of the esoteric stuff is to, well, have u heard of programming tarpits? it can be like that, or it can be problematic in other ways, but its all about testing boundaries and challenging urself and stretching the limits of what a programming language rlly is. is a language a language if its so complex nobody can use it, even if it technically can hit the metrics required? what about one that only uses three characters u cant even see? how about programming with color, how far can u stretch that?

The terminology is unfamiliar, but such is the consequence of a lack of academic infrastructure. [They shrug.]

...Those are intriguing challenges, especially given the spark's tendency to render strings of code as sensory impressions. Hmm.

How will Kumari determine her language-puzzle for Lapyen is complete, then? By the same metrics as other languages, when the puzzle is debugged...?

basically i am going to hit it with a bunch of metaphorical hammers, try to do stuff with it, and see how well it works. it's not time sensitive, i can take my time.
