Other writer-fans, random car/machine talk shows provide a whole pile of Weird Mechanical Ailments for your robot medbay needs! I've been trapped on a 10-hour car ride listening to NPR's {imaginatively} named "Car Talk" for like an hour and if I'd been taking notes I swear I could write out enough incident reports to fill a bucket of Ratchet-centric fics
...So Car Talk IS useful for something! Huh. I'm surprised at your endurance listening to it, though.
Oh man, Car Talk. It wasn't so bad when a) they still came out with new episodes and b) they only played one at a time. But you should def share those notes when you get back!
Oh yeah, I know, I'm just saying that I used to listen to it with my grandfather when they still did and it wasn't that bad then imo.

So I've done nothing but work so far today, which has meant doing lots of repetitive, mind-numbing work with block diagrams. So after many hours of this, I'm a LITTLE loopy. And then just about the last step is for me to fix up the nodes in this block diagram. So I'm moving nodes around. Playing with nodes. Rewiring nodes. Getting my hands on allllllll these little nodes. I know it's just the dumbest thing, but I haven't stopped sniggering for the last ten minutes.
I already had cygate on the mind, since idiotic moralizing about Tailgate's age was how I found my way into tf fandom, but! Eldritch horror Tailgate from the dead universe! He SAYS he was on the Ark, sure, but that's not reaaaally how he made his way out of the dead universe with Cyclonus, is it? He's about two weeks old... in terms of a universe where time moves in a clean linear fashion (okay but I did just crack myself up there given how many plot points revolve around quantum everything and time travel). Gives a whole new feel to the scene on Hedonia where Cyclonus tells him there's only so long he can keep his secret. (spoiler: tailgate is awful at pretending not to be an eldritch horror and everyone totally knows, but he's tailgate and he's their eldritch horror and they love him anyways) (also, would his chassis basically be the deep-wired version of a hermit crab shell? A shell made of people? Maybe not but I like some adorable body-horror-flavored cuteness to think about, so I'll probably spend some time pondering that while I do work)

I love the idea of hermit shell horrorterror!Tailgate! That would be so cool! He thinks Ultra Magnus is shaped like a friend because he too has a shell body! He wears a mask because his face is full of unknowable secrets (as well as several interchangeable mouths - his favorite is the one that works with curly straws because they remind him of home).
