Caliborn is such a little shit that i can't even take him seriously. Hes like the twelve year olds on xbla who call you a fat cubt and demand to see your tits. Its like son, you would not even know what to do with tits, son.
I know it's off-topic, but I'm imagining Caliborn actually seeing a titty and being so confused and it's making me laugh. (I actually kind of love him, he's awful beyond belief but goddammit, I think his awfulness is hilarious. Ah well, to each their own.)

Doc Scratch. he already beyond creeped me out even before we found out he was some sort of nasty lord english egg. i hate him even more now that i know part of where he came from. everything i dislike about gamzee, AR, equius, and caliborn rolled into one nasty customer... i actually don't completely hate those four on their own, but everything i do dislike is represented in that asshole.
hate to read: caliborn (long-winded and a terrible storyteller), jake (his self-effacing thing just doesn't ring true for me, that's a trait of people who have been invalidated and shut down, not people who grew up with no rules or restraints), vriska (vriska). hate to write: jade (she's a walking deus ex, she wrecks my plots if i give her any camera time at all), feferi (if you write her IC people flip their shit because the cutesy-harmless fanon is too ingrained to shift), vriska (vriska). vriska is the reason MPCDR is functionally abandoned. i could probably have dealt with the fact that basically everything in the fic is entirely contradicted by canon now, i think, if not for the way the plot crashed and burned the moment i tried to let vriska do anything except die quietly off camera.
Ugh, this. I actually like Feferi, but it's so hard to find a well-written portrayal of her. People either make her a total Purity Sue or a complete monster, and when you do find a good portrayal...well, people are generally assholes about it, like you said. People in this fandom get so attached to fanon, I swear. :( Honestly, if I could pick one minor character in HS to get more screentime, it'd probably be Feferi. She has a lot of potential as a character, and even given the fact that we know very little about her, she's got some interesting stuff going on. (For what it's worth: I personally think she's got good intentions, but that she's been coddled enough--both on Beforus and on Alternia--that she doesn't understand that a lot of her ideas are actually harmful. Like, she's condescending as hell and thinks she knows better than everyone else, but she seems to act more out of sheer ignorance than actual malice.)
yes, all this! i got some blowback for how i wrote her chat log in 'lee shore' -- i had her be possessive over eridan's problems even though she was well past fed up with him, like she didn't trust anyone else (especially dave strider) to be able to handle him, and she got really irritated with dave's flippancy and snapped at him. i had people accusing me of misogyny, saying i was 'making her a bitch' to punish her for being in the way of my yaois or sth? i was like guys did you read the comic at all. like the first time we see her she is chewing eridan out for being a self-centered dickrag. i had her canon pesterlogs open in another window while i wrote that bit, so i'd get her voice right. sorry if you fanon her as pinkie pie but the call is coming from inside the house.
None of the characters in Homestuck hit my "instant hate do not pass go do not collect $200" points- there's ones I don't really care about, but given the comic itself that's about as bad as it gets. But there are characters that I've come to hate basically because of the fandom, and not even for good reasons? Like all the debates on Gamzee just tire me out and now I'm tired of looking at him, and GamKar has become a total notp for me just because of how it's usually portrayed. Same with Vriska.
Since Hussie put their avatar in the comic, does he count as a character? Other than that, definitely Vriska. Also Chahut, because she murders far more people than Gamzee at his worst, while completely sane and sober, and flirts with a preteen child onscreen, yet the Gamzee haters won't stop licking her ass. There are others I don't hate but get massively frustrated at the clumsiness of their writing. I adore what Gamzee could be if Hussie had remembered he was mind-controlled, but what actually got written is nothing like that. As for Hiveswap, Zebruh could be an interestingly horrifying character but what actually got written makes no sense in Alternian society. Spoiler: trigger warning: zebruh-related abuse things I can't go "lol incel" at a character in a circumstance which would encourage him to rape. I see why he doesn't in Doylistic terms, but Watsonianly nothing is stopping him except for contextually-weird views he developed in a way we never find out about and which he's pointedly not consistent with anyway.
Man I hate to say it, but Vriska This doesn't even have to do with the character herself as much as it has to do with how many people would defend her treatment of Tavros. I respect when Tavros isn't the focus of people's interest or they just don't like him, but I really cling to characters who have trauma and it really upset me to see all these people who'd be dickheads about it... and during Homestuck's golden years that was really common! Tavros had such an autistic vibe to me, too... Vriska has her own trauma too, so I potentially could've loved her. Just that a lot of discourse got in the way of that for me, and then Hussie kind of... idk. acted really weird about Vriska's role and a lot of things there made me uncomfortable. And Hussie often used Vriska as a way to show how much he didn't care about Tavros. Arguably in the early sections of Homestuck, Tavros got some interesting writing, but any time he came back it was basically a joke.
