It's not the worst bayverse design I've seen but couldn't the've given him some spiky head ornaments? More yellow?

 

My internal tag for Rodimus is "the guy who looks like a phoenix". this there is maybe some glimmering ashes.

AUGH FUCK IF THEY PUT MY TRASHSON INTO A NEW BAYVERSE MOVIE I'LL HAVE TO SUFFER THROUGH IT

 

The actual structure is great for a Bayverse movie. The choice to make him black and red is what's making me tilt my head, because now he's virtually indistinguisable from half the cast again.

The guy known for standing out. That makes sense.

 

Are there any closeups, because his head/face is weirding me out but it's a little hard to see?

They could have given him, idk, a more humanoid face? He's got Bee's insect face >>;.

I KNOW, I wish we could all go see it together, that might dull the pain a bit. He's probably going to die in the first five minutes or something >>;;.

I remember reading somewhere that they wouldn't put Rodimus in the Bayverse moves because of his color scheme? For some reason, red is difficult to make look convincing in CG? All I've found is one reddit comment to back that up though.

 

I´d go along for moral support. From how I know the movie, seeing them in german can´t possibly make them worse.

Man I could actually buy that if OP and Bee hadn't looked pretty decent. Roddy's colorscheme doesn't have to be tomato red, but splashing in yellow on all those broad black spaces would have helped. (I have heard that red is a lot harder to make convincing, which rings true to me tho. I imagine the lighting is harder to finagle.)

I get the feeling it has more to do with making his alt-mode a cool charger with racing stripes (I'm assuming he's going to be a Dodge Charger, though it's possible he's a Mustang or something too) than anything on the rendering end. Which is dumb, because fuckin. Flames are his thing. You can do the flames I promise. Stop being so committed to racing stripes.

those might be lips instead of the weird thing Bumblebee has, which makes it look a little less like he's wearing a disturbing muzzle, but still pretty messed up, never mind those eyes

 

Yeah. I like Optimus' voice in the german dub.

There are so many questions, and so few answers. Am I going to be compelled to watch this. I think I am.

I think the face is cute but mostly because it reminds me of TFP Bumblebee. They definitely should have made him YELLOW and red and not black and red, with like... more goldish accents in his internals?

 

Because mercedes won the bidding war, presumably.

 

Like, keeping it metallic and not ridiculous looking for the inside of a car, but tying together his color scheme and making him FLASHY.

 

*I hate to say this, but Roddy's robot mode is anti-flashy, he looks like a robot mechanic, or a plumber or something.

*Roddy as a mercedes is pretty wtf. He's supposed to have the looks and personality of a 70s/80s muscle car. If they wanted a sleek/classy robot, they should have imported Knockout into the Bayverse (can you just imagine???)
