I changed some theories since I made that first post, since somebody pointed out that the western Russia one moved to the other side of a landmark between the moon map and Pearl's map, and I also had a comment in that first post where I for some reason assumed the upside-down pyramid in the Strawberry Battlefield was the Ziggurat (which was pretty silly of me, since it... very much is not a ziggurat).

So, apparently Rebecca Sugar did an interview where she said Jas has self hatred issues and thinks she deserved her corruption. And i know this cause i went on tumblr for the first time in a week and everyone in the Jasper tag was crying about it.
I'm honestly super hyped to explore Jasper's self-hatred (if you're looking for a reason why all your relationships fail and end, girl....), and how that affects her.
Ah, and also, here is some excellent Amethyst meta (spoilers up through Bismuth)! True story, it's pretty much tied to whether it's more important she's smol or she's purble. In fact, if this is right and you want to get cute, Amethyst is so purble because she's so smol, hahaha
Oh yeah, that. I kinda disagree with bits of it (like Jasper being inherently shallow, or how Pearl's taking a while to reform is some kind of flaw, when Amethyst reforming quickly looked painful and has led to issues in the past) Plus, I disagree with the 'Amethyst has all the powers of a REAL quartz' because like. No. She doesn't. That was the whole point of Steven vs Amethyst - 'You can be aaaaaanything you want - No, I can't.' That's the whole MEANING. Amethyst isn't as good as fighting as Jasper, she is absolutely not what Homeworld was looking for, and she still has value despite that.
If this is the interview in question, I think Tumblr's really stretching it to interpret it as making any sort of moral statement about Jasper deserving corruption. Ah, well, that's Tumblr for you. (FWIW, my opinion is that Jasper really has no one to blame but herself, since she caught the corruption as a result of forcibly fusing with a corrupted gem she'd been beating and imprisoning.) ETA: Okay, I misunderstood what Tumblr was having a sad about, thanks for the clarification!
