Thank you! *grins* It should go all right. I'm quite practiced at diplomatic negotiations, and from what little I gathered of her personality in the memories, she seems the type unlikely to "shoot the messenger," as it were. Besides, my own personal suspicion is that she's making these unexpected moves in support of the All-Father and the Eladrain Gods against our current worst interplanar threat.

You come from a very high-mana dimensional sheaf, don't you? My guess is that you're from a formative, rather than a fully material, world, which would explain why you find this little pocket of liminal space so comfortable.

Even if she is, the lack of communication is... concerning, at least to me. But I suppose there's little point in telling Eliana that, when the goal is to reestablish communications!

High-mana dimensional sheaf sounds about right, even if I'm not entirely sure of the definitions you're using. The material plane in our group of concurrent planes is very material, though, and recently (in the past thirty years, their subjective time) was ah... reduced in power? Most of the high-powered people voluntarily left for Altar or accepted a reduction in their power and scope in order to foster a slightly more survivable world for normal mortals.

I was originally from the material plane, though; I've only been living in Altar for... well, thirty-ish years their time. My time has been exceedingly strange, with how many trips to Memoria I've taken.

The sea-drakes and the All-Father come from entirely different origins, and on their scale of life they just... haven't talked in a while. And interplanar communications were entirely messed-up for a while due to, ah, technical difficulties? But I am glad we're re=establishing communications, because if she really does intend to support our goals we could use the help.

Ah yes, the eternal FSA problem of all interdimensional studies, physical or otherwise.

I know I explained that, right? It stands for Fucking Semantics Again *grins*. Words like "magic", "god", "divine", "deity"... *shakes head*

I still can't believe you actually put that into the textbook.

Oh, wait. I married you. Of course I can.

    Ah. That... does make sense.

We are here, and our agreement still stands. Wadanohara is safe from him, no matter how many of him there are.

So, how does Altar compare to the material plane?

Ford thinks I might ascend somewhere kinda like it someday.

I think you came from someplace like that. Or rather, your ancestors did.

Yeah. And that I might end up going back there someday.

I don't mind trying to explain terms in relative description - I did a lot of simplifying magical jargon for the less magically inclined party members - but I'm not enough of a scholar to say I'm necessarily simplifying extremely accurately.

Altar is interesting! I've very much enjoyed the time I've spent here so far - it helps that, in some respects, my responsibilities here are actually significantly limited compared to in my mortal life. Altar was actually created sometime after the material plane was, in what I'll keep calling our "sheaf" since that is a very useful term (thank you, Ford!), built as a refuge for the Eladrain. Now, it is hope to many immortal and post-mortal beings, although it is certainly big enough for people who would otherwise conflict to have plenty of space.

*grins* Less responsibility, huh? Sounds pretty nice.

I was coming from a very high-responsibility position in my mortal life. Being a divine agent has a lot more downtime... although, then, time is a bit more flexible in Altar, too. And Valorym put some very specific limits on the amount of influence any denizens of Altar have on the material plane, since interfering has gone so very catastrophically badly multiple times in the past... so even if I wanted to be more involved and responsible with mortal turmoils, I can't. Which has its upsides and downsides.

So, is everyone in Altar an agent, then?

Not at all! There are gods, non-divine-immortals, deceased mortals... it's a diverse place, nowadays.

Deceased mortals? Well, if my dimension works the way Altar does, I guess maybe I don't have to worry about losing Pap and Sunshine when they die...

    Just out of interest-
*Nichrome looks up at Ford from her vantage point of being currently incredibly short*
No this doesn't work. Give me a second.
*she frowns and takes the form of a relatively short, young woman with dreadlocks and heavy eyeliner*
Just out of interest, Doctor Pines I believe the correct honorific is?
Are there more neutral terms for those words ("god", "divine", "deity" in specific) for people who'd rather avoid being mistaken for a worshipper of false hope?

There was some, um, negotiation required for deceased mortals to be allowed in Altar. But that had to do with history rather specific to our sheaf - I'm not sure how your home compares.

*bitter laugh* Well, I'm not sure how my home compares either. Never been there. Right now, it honestly feels pretty theoretical.
