It's really trippy when I go back and reread vir.rabbit.d, because in that story, Laserbeak is a lady. But so is Ravage, and Laserbeak is way in the background while Ravage gets to star in one and a half sex scenes, and every fricking time I read 'she', I stumble, because no no no, sorry, you must mean Laserbeak.
i have lots of soundwave feels, jazz feels and jazzwave feels. but i'm not as good at analyzing the fic as all of you are. like, a whole lot just zipped by over my head. Spoiler: tgwp (actual discussion of the story) like, i always thought that rebellion obviously wouldn't work and that the current status quo would be the best they could ever have, 'cause that was what soundwave's pov suggested to me, and so Jazz And Soundwave Fall In Love And Are Unequal Power Dynamic Dads In Megatron-Ruled Cyberton was actually the best that could happen. that things significantly changing would just make things worse. but after reading all this analysis, i'm like, "maybe successful rebellion is possible... maybe... and if so, just hoping for Jazz And Soundwave Fall In Love And Are Unequal Power Dynamic Dads In Megatron-Ruled Cyberton is hoping for too little. maybe the characters can get something better." and it is sure weird to think that, now. hella weird.
This fic is SO RICH WITH FEELINGS!! I need to go back and re-re-re-(etc)-read it again, for another hit of those sweet, sweet emotions. I had a pretty optimistic view from the start, because that's how I always roll, but it's so exhilarating seeing all the things come together that could make that happy ending something that's actually possible. Especially because as the emotional development has progressed, it seems like Jazz could... potentially be at least some happy with Soundwave under Megatron's rule. So since there's a semi-happy ending within such easy reach, I feel so tense for the potential Ultimate Happy ending that's juuuuuust out there past their fingertips. (also, I just realized that in terms of the current military balance, Megatron has taken some hits, but he still has two entire combiner teams at his disposal. Even if Menasor is tied down on earth, Devastator is the most experienced combiner out there. That being said, I'm sure Starscream is planning how to take Devastator down if it comes to it, but still. Two combiners is pretty significant. Also also, I don't know if it's going to make a difference in this story, but the stunticon wiki page specifically says that Megatron can "barely control" them)
it's really cool how, reading this thread, i can see how easily i slipped into soundwave's head. how i ended up seeing things the way he saw them and feeling what he was feeling and just generally got constrained by the pov the story was from and how natural it felt and how ready i felt to excuse him doing questionable things. and now i've thought about it, yep, i definitely second that autistic soundwave headcanon you mentioned. just, yeah, lots of autistic traits plus me, an autistic, slipping that deep into his head = definitely sperg for me. :D:D:D Spoiler: tgwp and jazz! i wasn't surprised at all by him being born a slave. i hadn't outright guessed that but i recognized a similarity between him and my favourite fairly oddparents character, norm the genie (or at least my headcanons about norm the genie), that suggested to me that slavery felt... natural... to jazz, that it wasn't new to jazz. and i love jazz' snarky attitude and trickiness and sharp intelligence and everything. :D:D:D and how jazz puts music to his memories. i don't recognize a lot of the music he uses and i don't think much of it is from the genres i listen to, but i definitely recognize this kind of mental echolalia, using songs to connect to emotions and events and people and stuff, the urge to think and speak in music and quotes and stuff. so yeah, i have Sperg Feels about that.
Oh, huh Five trines, even though we haven't had any focus except the main three and the cone trine. And if they all defected, that means Starscream has at least 17 fighters with him. I wish I had some idea of how large the decepticon force is, outside the known eighties cast :P

The last two times I've gone to this sushi restaurant (and the last two tgwp updates), I've placed my order, picked up my phone, and found an upd8 notification on this thread. Speaking as a trained statistician, what I'm saying is, I think it is my solemn civic duty to eat at this restaurant every day of every week.
Spoiler: new lj stuff aaaaaaaaAAAAAAAAAAAA God poor Soundwave :(( I mean on one hand, I'm sort of overjoyed that events are slowly pushing Jazz into a more equal position with Soundwave and less of a subordinate one-- letting Jazz refuel on his own is HUGE given how Soundwave had used it previously as a way to reinforce that power issue but poor Soundwave he really is the new punching bag without Starscream around, and unlike Starscream he's not inclined to push back on the other hand, this is really Megs nailing the last few nails into his own coffin the city wants Starscream, not him Shockwave is pretty hated, but currently Megatron's rising star Soundwave, while not so utterly beloved at Starscream, is noteworthy to the city-- people remember him stepping in, and while he shed that spotlight as quick as possible, I'm betting there aren't many that forgot Jazz the autobot slaves got left behind more and more, it's looking like Soundwave is going to have to defect and maybe even lead a revolt from within the city himself? and.... it wouldn't be the first time I'm so excited
Spoiler: new lj upd8 Oh my god, the order to send his symbiotes out, that's just... wow. That's just cruel. They don't stand a chance on their own. I think that's gotta be Soundwave's big tipping point one way or the other. I think his options are. Hm. He could defy Megatron entirely. And he could either be honest about it (given that new injury, I... doubt that will go well), or he could tell baby's first lie. Or he could go with the symbiotes instead. And if that happens, I assume Jazz is coming too. I don't know if that necessarily improves their odds, given that it would be 1-2 mechs + 1-5 symbiotes vs. 8-17 mechs. And even if the symbiotes are small and Jazz is Maximum Stealth, Soundwave is... not that thing. Also, feeding his family across that kind of distance when they're not built for travel sounds like a difficult problem, no matter whether he goes or not. BUT, if he goes, it does give Starscream an opportunity to seduce him to the dark side, and I think Soundwave is increasingly willing to be seduced, especially if Jazz, Frenzy, and Rumble are there to give him some extra nudging. Hmmmmmmmmm, I dunno. I'll like any way it plays out for sure, but I'm all ;_; over how bad Soundwave's choices are, and how hard it will be for him to protect his family, no matter what he decides. (also, there's something about that scene with Rumble trying to protect Soundwave and tell him not to give Megatron that bad news that just hits me right in the heart) (also also, Soundwave, give Jazz some of this information, collaborate with him, you need somebody twisty to help you find the safest path forward)
Spoiler: Twpg Aah, finally got around to catching up. I'm still having mixed feeling about the current state of the soundjazz relationship. On one hand, trust! On the other hand my brain still doesn't like the idea of Jazz being tamed and its hard to know exactly what is is play here without a window into the future. Darn it, I want to know what ultimately happens so I can properly contextualize what is going on right now. The sex was really good, but my fav part was that all of Starscream's crew followed him unquestioningly into the wastes. I am rooting for you guys, please kick Megatron's ass! Fireflight doesn't call Thundercracker master normally. That was a nice tidbit. Someone please get that wellmeaning but treasonous plane a dog instead. NEW STUFF: 1.) SOUNDWAVE LET JAZZ FEED HIMSELF! This is great news, I'm so happy! Stepping back, it's funny that self-feeding is somehow a major sign of relationship progress in this fic. 2.) Ok, so is the theory that hot rod was the one that burned megs debunked? He still seemed to regard him favorably when he asked Soundwave to find him. I didn't see any sign of that kind og baggage. 3.) Is it bad that I wish we'd gotten to see soundwave get beat up by megs? Or would the scene have just been the same as the one from many chapters ago? I was thinking about sending peacewish a link to this forum thread? Would that be appropriate? It seems like we post tons of feedback to her fic that she never had the chance to read.

I'm totally fine with it! I'm just going to say right here in case she reads the thread that I like to speculate very very (embarrassingly) wildly, and I don't mind at all being proven wrong, especially for a story like this that's such a fantastic ride.
