also, I feel kinda dumb asking this, but why did Liron wink at Lyriae? like, I know it was because she was wingmanning, but, uh... how was she trying to wingman?

 

So 5e doesn't have volumetric fireballs, right

 

volumetric? you mean fireballs that are actually spherical? all the spell stats say is that it has a 20-ft radius, so, uh... I don't know, actually. it could go 20 ft up over its center, I guess.

edit: fireballs that are half a sphere, that is. a truly spherical fireball would be quite the sight to see.

everyone confused: fireballs are still spherical, but they used to have a set volume rather than a set radius. So if you set one off in an open field it'd be a 20ft radius sphere. If you set one off in a narrow hallway, it'd expand quite a bit further than that to compensate. (One reason Tucker's Kobolds were so goddamn terrifying was that you couldn't fireball them in their cramped tunnels without the backwash killing the party.)

 

volumetric fireballs are Fun. In the dwarf fortress sense.

regarding Liron's question: recall that you've probably all got some stuff stored in the house that's not in your packs. Though it won't take you long to grab it and go.

 

Alabaster is never going to not call recharging their breath weapon "catching their breath" btw. They probably assume that that's just a dragonborn phrase for it that other people picked up to sound cool.

 

Do you plan to take a short rest, then? The rest of the party seems to be talking about leaving immediately, and Alabaster would need to wait an hour to recharge their breath weapon.

 

Oh does that take an hour in 5e? I was just assuming the 4e 5 minutes. If it's longer then yeah, leave without recharging.

 

Yeah, short rest is 1 hour, long rest is 8 hours.

 

Alabaster's breath is too quick, we can't catch it.

if Lyriae had noticed what was going on, she'd be so frustrated by now. she'd probably set the painting on fire. unfortunately nothing has drawn her attention to it, so Alabaster's gonna be fucking dead in like two seconds. WHY DID I DECIDE TO PLAY THE BASTION OF COMMON SENSE. THIS IS TERRIBLE.
