    Nothing filthy about it, Sawbones.
*said in a fake solemn tone*
Cheating is an honorable art perfected over millions of years and I for one am proud that I can contribute to such a legacy.

Well, I'm sure I could do both of those things if I poked around a bit, but I wouldn't ask a government official to help me do so! =P ...not a medic, anyway, there are always guards to bribe or convince. Certainly wouldn't ask any of you to help directly.

In any case, the information is appreciated. It is... good to know there is at least one more option than those I have already considered.

Cardassian sounds vaguely familiar, in the way of "this name is spoken in commerce hubs," unsure which tales are truth and which are exaggerated in the way of retold stor--

Ah. "Dominion" war? As in-- this Dominion? [She displays a certain symbol on her visor, obviously concerned.]

Julian Bashir In my expert medical opinion, it's sick.

I understand that. What of yourself?

Funnily enough, the Romulans and the Klingons were our allies, even the Cardassians later on. If I'd said such a thing could happen ten years ago, I'd be laughed out of the building! Last year, hell, fighting alongside Cardassians would have been unthinkable. It's incredible how catastrophe can bind a people together, regardless of race, regardless of history.

We put aside our differences, we faced the enemy! And all we needed bury that old hatchet was annihilation dangling above our heads like the sword of Damocles.

"Only" two years, which, if you ask me, was more than long enough. I take it you've recently reached coveted peacetime as well?

    Be a sport, Coxswain!

[He makes a quiet, amused sort of noise. Member of Starfleet, not only accepting a bribe to neglect their duty but to not immediately report the presence of a new intelligent life form?]

    Good luck.

[He perks up a bit further when she mentions the Cardassians, though he'd expect to hear the word "Ferengi" far more often in a place of business, but the smile drops from his face as fast as his stomach does upon seeing that emblem.]

Yes, that... that's it. Am I to assume, then, that you've encountered them?

... I feel like however I could phrase this would cause outrage and possibly make us seem even more terrible than we are...
Yes quite recently. Our ship is in fact an effort to help our race's... less than stellar reputation while also strengthening the tentative bonds among our own people.

[If Nichrome expected Julian not to hear that, she has sorely underestimated his hearing. Possibly because his senses are markedly more acute than your typical human.]

Terrible? That's harsh. Your mission sounds like a noble one.

If you won't sing the song, why not tell us what you're so keen to hide, there?

The mission itself? Brilliant if terribly mismanaged and doomed to certain failure unless an imaginary god bestows an equally fake miracle upon us.
I was rather talking about the implications of what lead to where we are starting from with said mission.
Namely a four million year civil war with another two million year preamble, multiple genocides, countless organic races getting dragged into galaxy spanning warfare.
    *she shrugs awkwardly*
It's not like I can hide it if youa re from the same universe as us you would have heard of the Cybertronian Civil War.

Oh, that would do, but much prefer my own equipment! [She taps gently on the camera mounted to her helm.]

Not... directly, no. Certain other factions I had reason to do business with or in were quite pleased to hear the Dominion was distracted by some other more interesting-- very far away-- threat, but... they can handle themselves, I suppose. The end of a war is generally a good thing. Don't suppose the Dominion was wiped out, not just cowed by the Federation and its allies?

(look, if vword gets out that im refusing to sing the song, i could lose my job. its a vwery nice job except for the goddamn song and mood policy, and a lot of trolls vwanna get their hands on it. ivwe put forty svweeps of vwork in already and im not risking it all because some aliens vwanna hear the dumbass song.)

Not necessarily, if we and Julian are running in different points of the same timeline. Or if Starfleet is very good at hiding low-priority threats from its medical staff. Dominion territory was... roughly across the entire Galactic Council from Cybertronian space last I heard, and whatever war distracted them was even further away. If that other war was the one with Federation+...

I object to Decepticon Warfare being labeled a low priority threat. No matter how far away. But I can see your point.

"Not the war we're currently fighting" necessarily below "war we're currently fighting," especially considering the distances involved. Slag, most of the Council only considered Cybertronians a threat when the battles came too near their borders. (The general population, of course, got all the propaganda, but... militarily speaking.)

And I'd never heard of Devisiun before this mission. Lack of knowledge =/= lack of existence.
