@emythos Modern muggle money, or the muggle money of that time? Like, did they keep updating or did they stick with pounds and so on?
God, I need this. Also, can we have intramural sports? My character is naturally pretty active but wouldn't join something he had to practice every day.
Absolutely! I know my character isn't so much interested in quodpot (for one, they prefer quidditch like the common hipster), but the main allure is being able to ride a broomstick. [Maybe Care of Magical Creatures does a Survey course. Literal Surveys of the desert, looking for magical animals] And then there's whatever clubs or Muggle sports your character desires, or wants to start, or et cetera
Right? You go on multiple-week long trips out into the surrounding desert, take what your broomstick can carry, leave no traces (disillusionment charm?), and, like, commune with nature. And also study it.
Early system of money back when everything was coins. Since trading large amounts of metal coins was unfeasible on the spot, they had pieces of paper that said they were worth X amount to give to merchants, and the coins were either shipped later or brought in manageable batches. A formal legally-binding IOU, basically. IIRC, when early America didn't have a unified monetary system a lot of people used promissory notes with precious metals to avoid dealing with conversion between states. So the notes were worth X amount of silver or gold which could be transported and converted into the local currency. And then people decided a different currency for every state was stupid and confusing and federal currency was born! As paper money came into vogue promissory notes became mostly obsolete, and aren't really a thing anymore.
so they could use promissory notes, or they could just use where is night vale again? the currency of the state they are in. i feel like magical america would be really backwards in some parts and really advanced in others. wait magic wouldn't that mean like trans people could transition much easier?
I'm being a dumbdumb right now and not being able to find the info on the house names and traits, can someone sum it up for me? Amd maybe add that info to the character profiles thread intro, IDK
This is the most detailed thing on houses, there are a couple more details scattered around. This was on page 8 so stuff on raven (or crow? I forget what we decided on) and turtle would be after that.
ended up with raven and turtle. I tossed a way less detailed one over at character intros, too, but this one's probably pretty close thanks @Lycoris !
Oh also! Since we are going to also have a hogwarts thread if I am not mistaken, with the possiblity for crossover in letters/transfers and stuff, what time period is this relative to Harry Potter. Is it modern day- so, starts in 2015?
