I'm pretty much always going to find reasons to fuss over you, you realize.

(Also, for all my cramming, I'm not as confident with Talassani physiology and biochemistry as I am human. It really hasn't been that long.)

You're still affected by societal stuff even if it's indirect. And hiding his hard, and exhausting - especially when you feel like you need to use your powers anyway, for whatever reason.

*sympathy fistbump* It's good you have a support network, at least.

 

That's a pretty fuckin' cynical way of looking at it, don't you think? Like, maybe you should try not stomping on everyone in your way, and that'll show other people to stop stomping too. Getting ahead doesn't mean you have to hurt people.

Yeah, they're all pretty sweet. I don't deserve half of 'em, especially not Queenie but I can't convince any of them about that.

*He jumps a little, then turns towards her.*

Can you help with sickle cell conditions, out of curiousity?

 

Uh, yeah. I've cured one person of it, which was wild. We didn't think it would work, since it's y'know, genetic, but uh, it did? And apparently they just need infusions every couple of months to keep the ratio right.

 

That's pretty impressive.

It is difficult to explain and I don't know all the details. It may be simplest to say that I was dying of my condition, and then I was not, but the trade-off is that those I touch skin-to-skin die if they are not like me. We are not touching skin-to-skin, so you are fine, and I likely couldn't hurt you anyway, although I do not want to test this. I was quite excited when the base cause of sickle cell anemia was discovered, although I don't see any way to cure the base mutation ethically. Yet! I am certain the future will be fascinating.
