The descriptor "pretty"

If I hear that something is pretty, I first assume it's visually pretty, and only think of other things after... Music and voices and other sounds can be pretty. Scents like flowers or some perfumes, I might think to describe as pretty.... but tastes or physical sensations? I'm not thinking of any I would describe that way. Weird, huh? The senses that feel the most like taking the thing into ourselves, I wouldn't think of "pretty" as a descriptor. But I'd be willing to call my own voice or face pretty. What's the way this word is working?

Just popping into the chatter thread to say that the wound caused by Motorcity being suddenly cancelled still pains me when storms roll in, and sometimes completely blindsides me at night, when I'm lying by my girlfriend and all should be well in the world

 

I need someone to check over my writing homework to make sure it's not completely awful, but everyone I know is either asleep or mediocre at english

this is AMAZING. as is usual with great dance, what really gets me is the dancer and how they move their body - like, holy fuck - but the first thing i noticed in this vid is tghat the woman is allowed to be real. she has flyaway hairs. she doesn't have to smile. she makes movements in her choreo that are anything but 'beautiful' and some that are nearly grotesque. and it's so good. i can't look away. it's entrancing - so powerful. just. hot damn. also her dress like wow. and how she uses everything. the scene where she 'climbs' the mirror. the precision of her movements. the switch from the sharp grotesque to the precise curves. soooo gooooooood

 

Apparently my mental health day is actually a "nag dad to rust treat my table" day.

 

There's something I want to say to a guy, but he's completely cut off contact with me, so I don't think I'm ever going to be able to. In the interest of venting, here's what I want to say to the guy who I used to consider a friend, but who cheated on his fiance with one of his fiance's friends and who thinks he got away with it because no one else has said any of what they're thinking.

"You did something objectively terrible. This is not up for debate. You willfully and repeatedly hurt someone who loved you, and who you said you loved so much that you asked her to marry you. I called you out on it in a way that brought completely to light how fucking horrible that was, and you tried to reframe the narrative to turn me into the villain. I did something dickish, but you are a STRAIGHT UP DICK."

 

I can't decide whether to buy the audiobook of The Goblin Emperor. It's a really comforting and home-associated book to me, which I could use since rn I'm often stressed by being away from home. But I don't much like the narrator. But I listened to two and three quarters Harry Potter books with a narrator I actively disliked at first, and you get accustomed. But it's like 30 dollars, and I'm not sure all the names and things will be clear...

Oh, I should see if I can get it through my library.
