ONE LAST NOTE, because I am experiencing An Emotion over this: George R. R. Martin had been writing and being published for decades before he published A Game of Thrones. And if you go back and read the short stories he wrote as a student...well, they're not terrible. They're basically all Robert E. Howard fanfiction with the names changed, and if you were to hold them up next to a random selection of fics from ao3, the only thing people might complain about is the lack of men kissing each other. But they're not fantastic, either. They're enjoyable, I had a nice time reading them once a few years ago, but they're not memorable, either. Not even the younger George R. R. Martin could write on the level of the author he became. It took practice and maturity, and more than a few failures. That's how it is for everyone, in any skill you care to name! So again, don't be hard on yourself. Don't compare yourself to the authors you adore. They weren't born telling the stories they're telling now. It takes PRACTICE, TEAMWORK, and TIME to be a George R. R. Martin or a Rebecca Sugar, and that's okay.
It's really worth it to go through the back catalogue of authors you respect and read their oldest stuff, then compare it to the stuff they do now. You can learn a lot that way and it helps dispel the illusion that these famously talented authors just sprung forth fully skilled. (In some cases where there isn't a back catalogue to go to, the author didn't publish until they were middle aged but were writing long before that.) You can also learn a lot by picking complex stuff apart and mapping out just how it all fits together and what reveals were made when.

(and pontentially her lyrics include angsty but fun lesbian unrequited love and thats why pearl went to go talk to her after?) also amethyst'll probably like the music sound, but not the heavy lyrics.
