    Wiwaxia problematic taxon

it is a thing apparently because i recorded s/p/b for my weapons on my character sheet, but no bludgeoning here, and i'm not confident they won't just pop like a grape anyways.

I'm thinking either establish a barrier to fire over or try to tie them up and then pop them?
or get out into the hallway and ranged attacks while running backwards

Range and distance would be good, especially if we can set up a barrier in the middle of the hallway on the way out. Keep them from following and picking them off bit-by-bit.

@thegrimsqueaker spell attack bonus actually adds to your attack roll, not your damage.

thegrimsqueaker 28 Moribunding Mouse Aggravates the Angry Assholes

good to know! so then it's 25 to hit and 10 damage

Think it'd be 23 (18+5), in fact. Spell attack bonus = proficiency (3) + Int bonus (+2), so already includes Int.

yeah, I had that thought about bludgeoning damage earlier and went and looked at everyone's character sheets, and as far as I remember the only things we have that don't deal slashing or piercing damage are spells. that being said, I don't think a barrier is really worth the trouble/spell slots that'd be needed to erect it—their splatter radius is only 5 ft., I think, and their actual attack doesn't seem to involve the acid, so we just have to kill them from range, and seeing as the whole party gets to act before they do we shouldn't have much of a problem staying at range. and Lyriae and Stella's Dex mods (and Lyriae's Dex proficiency) probably mean they'll do fine in melee, even. only problem with ranged attacks is that if no one's within 5 ft. of her target, Lyriae doesn't get sneak attack damage, and that's what's been cutting a real swath through these guys, but yeah. if these five are the last of them I don't think we need to do anything special to deal with 'em.

Spells that don't add the spellcasting ability mod make the Swirl sad.

    Grapple and wis saves:
    rolled 12,6 using d20+2,d20+1.
    rolled 14,18 using d20+2,d20+1.
rolled 9,14 using d20+2,d20+1. Grapple, wis.

Guess who's in happy lala land~

Damn, I'd lose my action to escape the grapple. Anyone want to kill the one holding me while I drive? Then I could Thunderwave their flowery asses.

Stupid feat letting me do somatic with weapon in hand but not letting my bypass it altogether. >:[

@The Frood Abides would you mind giving the coordinates of the orchidman who has Sarnai grappled, as opposed to the ones that are just close to her?

    @esotericPrognosticator A6.

@swirlingflight Grappling isn't as much of a debuff as it used to be. Your speed is 0, but I'm not seeing anything that says you can't use somatic components. It doesn't even force a Concentration check like it did in 3.5.

Did a bit of a search to confirm, and one person on GitP's forums had an excellent point on the topic:

So, that kills A6 and B7. and pushes top left back out the door.

Gonna need @swirlingflight to roll 2 DEX and WIS saves, and @missoyashirou to roll one of each.

I decided damage resolves before push... fortunately, otherwise you'd have popped A6 right in Alabaster's face.

Also, I can't believe we have a punny bard. At least she's smarter than Elan...

:3 Punny bards are the best bards! The real question is, should I let Sarnai haiku too? I'm great at syllable counting, but my poetic imagery needs work.... But, you know, I made Con her dumpstat. Can we really call her smarter, being adventurer determined to be on the front lines with a poor constitution, than Elan counting on the high Int people to do the reasoning for him?

    ....Uh oh.

    @The Frood Abides
    rolled Dex=13, Wis=4, Dex=19, Wis=4

don't worry, you passed both DEX saves, so you're safe for now.

21 (18+3) for the Dex save, 11 (10+1) for the Wis. I'm relieved on that, and want to know if B7 is still standing as well?

  17. The Frood Abides

The Frood Abides Doesn't Know Where His Rug Is

@missoyashirou Fuck, let me check... Nah, B7's dead, but there's still one adjacent to you at B6.

  18. The Frood Abides

The Frood Abides Doesn't Know Where His Rug Is

@missoyashirou yeah, that's a STR check. The Orchidman succeeded in contesting it.

Technically grapple checks are attacks, though, so your Extra Attack feature would apply here. You can use that on another grapple check, and then use Action Surge (or your bonus action from Two-Weapon Fighting) to attack it if that succeeds.

Also, while I'm discoursing on action economy: @thegrimsqueaker, Liron hasn't been moving. I figured that was down to them being a wizard and comfortable well away from the fight, but if there's something you were forgetting to do, that might've been it.

Can I also use the Bardic Inspiration on that? I didn't realize I could use the extra attack from TWF like that though, I thought it would have to be locked into the weapons I'm using specifically, but that is really good to know.

5e is kind to Fighters! Ah, I love it!

  20. The Frood Abides

The Frood Abides Doesn't Know Where His Rug Is

The TWF one is actually restricted to weapon attacks, but Extra Attack, which all fighters get, is not. And you can use Bardic Inspiration on any of those.
