I didn't see this in here, so here's a sewing machine doing its thing.

 

I've always wondered where the axle for the green spool is supposed to be, and how the yellow thread is supposed to pass through it. It looks like there's some topological fuckery going on there, but on the other hand sewing machines do sew, so there must be something happening that the picture is oversimplifying.

 

The green spool should be the bobbin, which means the axle doesn't go past the spool in both directions, just from "behind". I'm not sure how the thread doesn't get caught on the axle on the other side, but I think the whole casing holding the bobbin rotates.

 

I know this one! The thread doesnt get caught because the bobbin lies flat, not with the circle facing you. The thread is spun around in a circle over the top of the bobbin on a little hook. This image is just creatively angled so we can see the process.
