Oh nooooooo, I was just reading Redemption to see if anything in there looked like robot farmers maybe, and

fuck fuck fuck, barricade was already all noble and forward-thinking, but he was doing a romance too and now he's tragically dead and I am not okay

ok ive finally actually bit the bullet and started reading mtmte, on #4 now. would people be interested in/mind me liveblogging? It might not be too coherent cause boy i'm bad at names, and i'm not yet super skilled in the Telling Robots Apart category

that said, I already love Tailgate a lot

We love liveblogs. Give us ur liveblogs. ALL THE LIVEBLOGS. (Usually people either make a second thread and link it here, for stream-of-conciousness liveblogging, or dump everything in one post under a spoiler per issue here. Up to you which you'd rather!)

You know, I could swear I remember seeing something about that in the comic, but I can't confirm on the wiki and I'm too busy to dig through the original material right now. My memories feel like... nothing explicit, but very strong implications? Especially with the parallels between him and Overlord. I could be mistaken, though, not sure. There is this one sequence in 52, which implies some real nastiness to me, especially given how Megatron was pre-mtmte, but I definitely had this impression before that, and I can't pin down where it came from.

    tarn.jpg

Maybe some of it is that whole corruption, etc. phrasing, plus Tarn's own sadistic methods? Not sure, grasping at straws for what the original material was that twigged me this way, but it definitely was pre-grindcore flashbacks.

Some of it that's definitely more fanon is that I had the impression that the scarring on tarn's face is from being tortured into that conversion, and he doesn't fix it because now he's like YES, THIS IS WHEN MEGATRON ENLIGHTENED ME. I WILL NEVER REPAIR THIS.

That quote does make a case for the tortured/brainwashed idea, but it could have been other things as well. It's definitely tell clear that megs took glitch under his wing and personally taught him his ideals, and knowing megs, this was not a happy fun time.

Prewar Glitch would have been susceptible to someone with a strong personality anyway, and when megs says "hurt someone", he may have been talking about causing someone pain by turning Glitch against the autobots (probably Optimus, because it's always Optimus), which ties into the line about 'proving a point'.

I have seen a lot of fanon about megs torturing tarn, sometimes it's easy to get the two things mixed up.

A dumb thought about TFP: Autobots needs cube openers, Decepticons come with their own. (The claws)

I'm allergic to delayed gratification, and I'm having the WORST time trying to clear this one silly scene I really, really want to write, so

In quick succession, you catch, ‘--that with fierce pain I’m robbed of all my senses: because at that moment I--’, ‘--but being silent does nothing for you. Why? When--’, and ‘--and then all of my well-chosen words are forgotten--’ And… some of the words are familiar to you. Some of these, you’ve read before. Some of them are new. But you’re missing something. The drone is watching. Its optic is intent on you. You hardly know what this face is doing. There’s… a message to be found here. Certainly. Seeing these selections presented together. But you have to be reading it wrong.

The two of you are frozen for some moments before the drone turns back to the desk. It picks through the scattered datapads, selects two. It hands you the first one, and then reaches out to point out a single line.

‘You ask how many kisses of yours would be enough and more to satisfy me?’

Before you can say a word, it hands you the next datapad, directs you to another line.

‘Give me a thousand kisses, a hundred more, another thousand, and another hundred.’

You slowly set the datapads aside. Well. That really doesn’t leave much ambiguity, does it? But you can’t be reading that right. You can’t. You have to be missing something. It’s just a drone.

When you look up, it’s watching you again. You don’t know how to react. A large part of you is still trying to find some, some kind of logical explanation for this whole thing. There has to be something. Something simple and sensible that cleanly pulls together all these confusing pieces into one coherent whole. But you can’t figure out how start thinking through the possibilities. You can’t even tell where to begin.

The drone is still watching you. You don’t know how to look away. The drone is the first one to drop its gaze. It goes down to one knee, then both. Its head is bent low, and it’s strange realizing how odd it feels to not have the thing staring at you. It doesn’t move. And you don’t move.

dot dot dot drone propositions prowl because

cue sex scene. I've JUST about gotten to the action, and I've got the next 1.5 days entirely to myself, so. Hopefully I can make some real good progress. I want this thing finished so badly

on an unrelated note: I fandom barfed about TFP to my roommate after I found out her girlfriend is into MTMTE and now she's reading it and is already on issue like 20.
so now i have even more incentive to read (I say, continuing to bar myself from it until i homework, despite not doing my homework anyways)
