I'll ship it when you're over 18. otherwise tumblr will come after me and I rly don't want to deal w teenyboppers calling me a pedo over d&d. being called a satanist for playing is enough lulz for me

@The Frood Abides >__>;; how much closer?

wait, wait, how old is Liron again? 'cause Lyriae's... [stealthily checks character sheet] twenty-one, and if Liron's over like twenty-five Liron/Lyriae (Liriae? Lyron? why are their names so similar) will never not be pedophilic, so there'd be no point, really. also to be pedantic 1) what does my age have to do with the ship being pedophilic, my character is not a minor thank you very much 2) how the hell would Tumblr find out about this campaign, I don't even have a Tumblr 3) has someone actually called you a Satanist, that's fantastic!

Not seeing much interesting for Alabaster to do right at the moment, I'll probably hang on until Lirion and Lyriae fuck up make something interesting happen.

@esotericPrognosticator yes but *I* have a tumblr, and I've learned not to underestimate the depths of both tumblr's stupidity and resourcefulness. and yeah, ppl have been calling d&d players satanists since the 70s. I've only been called one once by an old aunt, but I'm still so amused and pleased by that (same great-aunt who sent back my bat mitzvah invitation reply card w a "jesus loves you" sticker. aunt Kathy is classy)

besides, Liron is 42, which is essentially a young adult by elf standards, but still

(and idk where you got your character's name, but mine's hebrew, means something like "my song")

@thegrimsqueaker Klassy Kathy, indeed. :/ and Lyriae's name is not nearly so well thought-out, lol. I originally conceived of her as "Lyra," because personality-wise she is similar to the character of that name from Philip Pullman's His Dark Materials series (and you can still see a direct reference to Lyra in her last name, lol), but then I decided that was too plagiaristic and messed around with her name until I got something that I liked and was generically elvish enough for her mom to think it was Very Elvish. also, yeah, I think a twenty-one-year-old elf would be, like, prepubescent? which would actually be pedophilic, unless you're an anti. (also are you like... genuinely worried about antis starting a Crusade against you based on this game? I'm kidding around about this, but idk if you are.)

I'm kidding, don't worry. most antis aren't gonna come here bc it's seebs' forum, and if they are, they're only going to do it to try and mess w seebs, which is a hilarious thought

Lel. It's only a problem if your characters start canoodling... which neither of them is stupid enough to do in a megadungeon, I think. That's a recipe for a horror-movie death.

And if anyone succeeds in seducing a NPC, I'll just do a tasteful fade to black. Partly because the most likely party member to try and succeed is played by a minor, partly because I am not doing that in a game of D&D.

[flashbacks to that time in Pathfinder the barbarian had a foursome]

ON ANOTHER SUBJECT. @thegrimsqueaker with a Perception roll that shitty you'd have to almost get up in her face. You almost certainly wouldn't get there unnoticed on anything less than a natural 20 Stealth.

...I don't suppose Lyriae could, like. listen and parrot what she hears to Liron, could she? or assist in a Perception re-roll, or something? or should we haul Alabaster over here and get them to try?

I dunno, neither of them has their priorities particularly straight (no pun intended), although Liron's priorities are bent most strongly around Areas of Academic Interest, for which I don't think canoodling would qualify, and while canoodling is high on Lyriae's priorities list, survival is probably higher. it's certainly not out of the question. ...noted that DM says it's a "recipe for a horror-movie death," though. D:

...is she not also the most likely to try, period? I might be misparsing you, but, like, observe Lyriae's usual process for interaction with any given entity:
    >determine if sentient
    >if sentient, determine if vaguely feminine-gendered
    >if yes, flirt; if no, probably flirt anyway
    >if situation is not wildly inappropriate, escalate to full-on seduction
    >???
    >profit
also, I mean, would the character doing the seduction even matter, necessarily? I'd be in the vicinity of the hanky-panky regardless.

....I almost don't want to ask, but. 1) why. and 2) what did their player roll to seduce that many NPCs???

I'm not actually worried, I'm just amused that this came up. also, eP has a point about our characters. Liron's smart in their natural environment, but outside of their lab they need to be constantly reminded to not do something stupid just to see what would happen
technically true, which is one of several reasons why we're not going to tempt fate/law
seconding eP's request for storytime. this sounds good. and by "good," I mean potentially horrifying, which is the best kind of good

also, I laughed at this for like five minutes. the dog on my bed got concerned and decided that it meant she needed to pin me to the bed, which caused more laughing. that caused doggie kisses to happen, which stopped the laughter bc otherwise those kisses would've gotten way too french

Judging from my experience learning a second language, a non-speaker trying to relay a half-heard speech by a native speaker purely on phonetics is not going to be remarkably effective. Liron would have to pass high Int and Wis rolls to get any meaning out of what Lyriae repeats.

I don't precisely remember what he rolled to seduce, but he rolled very high on Dex, Cha, and Con during the act. My inquisitor was across the town praying, so I didn't pay much attention.

(it ended poorly, apparently, because he didn't pull out)

I mean. I feel like there's a lower chance of dying if we try that than there is if Liron tries to Stealth their way up and eavesdrop, so, uh. could Lyriae make some kind of skill roll (Insight? Investigation? straight Intelligence or Wisdom check?) to repeat accurately and then Liron rolls to decipher that? we're not get anywhere with that nat 1 Perception check, that's for sure.

Lyriae's already succeeded with room to spare on the Perception check, so I'm counting that in your favor. Liron would still have to make Intelligence and Wisdom rolls.

yo, if this is what 1+5 on a perception roll gets me, how bad would it be w/o the modifier?

and I like my odds going the ass-backwards and stupid route better than trying to stealth. rolled 13+2 and 11+2. does anyone else speak draconic who can double check Liron's translation and Lyriae's approximation?

I'd like @esotericPrognosticator to post IC that Lyriae is repeating what she heard before this course of action proceeds any further, just to keep things consistent. Nevertheless:

It would be a... [burn?] it all... nothing [left?] behind.

@Wiwaxia, you said Alabaster was waiting on Liron and Lyriae to make something happen. @thegrimsqueaker, Liron now knows pieces of what the lady said. @swirlingflight I dunno what Sarnai's current plans are or if she's waiting to hear back from the L-Team too. Anyway, ping.
