I think the Library might be a more mundane sapient building, no matter how surreal that sounds. (Honestly now, I'm imagining the Library having a crush on the Temple, who is probably the strong and silent type)
ahaha, the first time jesse the farmer goes there it immediately grows a totally nondescript room with a circle of folding chairs in it and he's like "i know yeah i'm a quaker but i just like stained glass ok it's pretty" and the nondescript room vanishes
Cody´s room contains statues of Bast and Sekmet, to the great surprise of absolutely no one. But also one or two others.
the resulting child would probably be an inn. (also snitch, that first phrase in that post is perfect material for the out of context quotes thread ::D)
I imagine there's some odd things about the Temple, like architecture that doesn't quite look the same between any two people. I mean, it broadly looks "churchy" or "gothic" or "temple-y", but that's up to interpretation, it seems. The most extreme example is Snitch, who can't enter, and describes the Temple as a vast hemispherical featureless object. No-one knows what to think of this. Its insides act similar to a religiously-themed Room of Requirements - if you go in, looking for somewhere to sit and think, a door you haven't seen before creaks open, and you find yourself on a balcony complete with reclining chairs, looking out onto a picturesque alien landscape that must be an illusion, right? If you need someone to talk to, the Temple has a knack for directing people to cross paths, and some of the firmest friendships in Kintsugi have formed from a chance meeting, wandering the halls. People have described massive mechanical orchestras, playing sublime music from one's fondest memories and happiest dreams. The rarest occurrences are the occasional sightings of someone dubbed "the priest" - a clockwork humanoid thing of polished wood, porcelain and brass wearing some kind of robe, seen tending to the Temple and vanishing as soon as they are spotted. Someone has to water the plants, it seems.
Some of the watering plants, maintenance, and so on is done by Scheherazade, on the grounds that she lives there so she might as well. The rest Holy Gate just seems to do for itself, via the priest or other methods.
Tailsona decides that since the temple place appears to have all these rooms that someone needs to use them. It goes there twice a week, rolls several dice, and then proceeds to a random room to do random worship. So far it has been seen: - lighting a menorah in front of a large black-and-white picture of Charlie Chaplin - dancing to a drum beat while wrapped in a Persian rug - smearing petroleum jelly on a doorknob - making chalk sigils on the floor of a room filled with mirrors - setting origami bears on fire in Cody's room in front of the statue of Bast (On a metal-and-wood stand, of course. Fire safety!) - waving incense around in sinuous patterns in a bathroom - kowtowing in front of all twelve zodiac symbols, in order - gluing all the statues in a room together with epoxy and clamps - setting out a picnic on a towel in one of the hallways, and then leaving
I like the idea that the Temple is a willing collaborator in this, and as soon as you step in, you basically trip over a box containing two spray cans of instant cheese, lots of rubber bands and a collection of different-sized tuning forks.
Spoiler Oh man what a great reference for an organic building. The vines of those columns are about the look of what I figured the newest library spaces are like, before they expand and fill out to make more solid walls and such.
Yes I love Holy Gate. Sidhe!Laz frequents it, particularly a marble room with hundreds of tiny vaguely-humanoid statuettes. Attempting to ask it about them makes it stuttery and frustrated, like someone trying to explain neurochemistry to a toddler. Fuckyoubus!Laz isn't actually a demon, just likes their shape, but mostly avoids it. It still has a room in the temple and regularly takes stuff from it to bring to its house though. Its religious items are hard to come by!
Em will totally hang out in the Temple. Probably in a section that looks like a weird mix various fancy church styles, with random Egyptian influences. (For someone who isn't Christian, I really really love churchs. they're just so pretty and calming and there's just something about them. It's a pity all the churches in my town are creepy as fuck and sketchy, cause I would totally hang out in churches constantly otherwise.
oh fuckerson, i apparently skipped one notification for this thread and have just caught up on seven pages worth of this *heavy sigh* Also I love the church idea, even though Moss' idea of church is probably a nice couch, a charging port, and 200 new books in their databanks. @Void I'll toss you some half-assed "this is where Moss lives" tonight, i'm just not totally sure myself. torn between underground in maintenance tunnels or somewhere near the radio station. Neither of which would probably be super conducive to a game. ...I might send you that later than tonight.
Do we have to play as ourselves? I don't want to play as me but I might want to play. When do we start rping? Is there a thread yet?
I don't think there's a thread yet - there was talk of a Skype RP but I don't think that's happened either. You're more than welcome to make a persona though! :D We've mostly just been meta-ing. I'd like to do another Welcome to Kintsugi ep, but I've been swamped with work lately D:
