GOD i loved that episode of the shitstorm. i actually had to stay on call with a friend of mine because the glitchy stuff started wigging me out so badly haha for some reason i can handle scary movies really well but watching lps of it freaks me right the fuck out
does anyone have recomendations for like, entry level horror movies? i get scared super easily but horror is fascinating so i wanna try and get into the visual side more. right now im living vicariously through wikipedia summaries and creepypasta
I always recommend people start with the exorcist, or maybe suspiria? What kind of creepy pasta do you like, and do you have any squicks/triggers?
exessive gore/really explicit scenes are squicks but other than that i dont think i have any that would apply to movie watching i dont know what specific kind of creepypasta i like? i usually just troll through sixpenceee's story tag every now and then. i think the writing quality matters more than the content itself
I'll start you off with some short horror films then, just to ease you in. This one's called click, about some kids messing around in a room in an abandoned building. It's one of my old favorites. It will take me a few minutes to round up some links and figure out how to make a spoiler cut, but I promise I'll have some more before you're done with this one. Spoiler: Horror shorts Jumpscare at the end. This one has some blood/gore but it's not focused on. Some jumpscares. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=9VDvgL58h_Y And a horror comedy at the end. Some blood/gore and nudity.
I got bored as fuck with Diabolical. Haven't seen all of it yet, but honestly I don't feel it was worth continuing with what I did see.
-pokes head in cautiously due to being V. Easily Frighten- this is a good video about horror media :V I had to not watch the visuals (clips from various horror media) for the most part (because wimp) but still v good meta stuff This guy's other videos aren't horror-related but are still good, mostly centering around various animes but they're all very insightful and good shit, he'll go far
Please watch Room 237 because it fucking sucks and I need more people to experience the terrible sound editing and theories with me. I need others to understand why I hate minotaurs.
@raybot - I can't handle gore at all (just because ... well ... me), so I'm into the other brands of horror. I love ghost stories, haunting stories, etc. HOWEVER - Haunting in Connecticut is one of my favourites (the first is less gory than the second, but there's only one part in the second that I literally have to close my eyes), and Sinister is also fantastic. I also liked a Haunting in Salem, and Haunting of Winchester House. :)
oh cool! i think ive watched part of sinister? the movie with the video tapes. i watched it at a friend's house! i remember i really liked the lighting but i never finished the movie because me and friend were iterupted and then i didnt want to watch it alone whoops
Sinister is probably my all-time favourite, actually. And yes - the one with the video tapes. And the creepy tree. I also kinda have a thing for possessed children haha
my brother and i just watched The Rite and that was pretty good! has heavy religious themes (heavier than most exorcism-themed films, even) so if that isn't your bag this won't be, but i liked it a lot :D i just saw the new blair witch and didn't like that one much at all ): not a fan of gore so some of it skeeved me out pretty bad, but! Spoiler: spoiler there's a scene where the like, stick-person symbol things have locks of everyone's hair on them, and one of the characters (who'd faked these symbols before to scare everyone else) found one with her hair on it--everyone else is panicking, and one of the other girls snaps the thing with her hair on it, and she falls to the ground, all bent and fucked up in the same way the effigy is. that was kind of neat, and not something i expected
The original had what. The packet of teeth, blood, and mysterious pink thing? DEATH AND BLOOD MAKES ME HAPPY THOUGH.
@Wormwitch oh dang, Anatomy looks good! also I'm just gonna gently blow on my own horn and leave a few links to my scary LP playlists here; I don't do the all-shouty-all-the-time thing, if I make a loud noise it's because the thing I'm playing has genuinely scared the bajeezus out of me. SOMA (currently in progress; first few eps have facecam but I gave up on that because too much work) Pineview Drive Horror How-Tos (commentary from the second ep on is various "how to do thing" things because it turned out Pineview Drive was actually not all that scary or even all that good but I didn't have another horror game to play at the time) Astray And from the old channel (and old name): Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs Deadly Premonition (more goofy than scary, though it has its moments) Outlast (unfinished but also has its moments) also I did one night of FNAF and then just sort of ...never played it again
