Homestuck Classpects (or Titles, whatever you prefer)

This thread. I want to give it cookies. Is there somewhere to theorize classpects of characters from other things? Because I have a full map due to writing Project Sburb as to whose classes are what in Red vs. Blue. I could talk about it forever.

The class I most identify with is Mage of Mind. Libra cusp in my sun sign, law student, Gemini moon sign. It's always made intuitive sense to me in a way I can't really describe. When I took the "simple" test I got Sylph, which I don't like because it's a gendered class and also because the way the test described Sylph doesn't align with what I see in canon at all.

But I'm not sure that's the class SBURB would give me to challenge me. If it really wanted to challenge me, it would give me something like Page of Blood. Or anything Space--my spatial reasoning is completely shot, I hate the idea of collecting frogs endlessly, and because it's the frog breeding that creates the new universe it's created to ideas of femininity, maternity, and fertility that I'm not comfortable with. Or hell, Seer of Void would be hard as hell too.

The class I would want to be is a Prince of Breath. Princes destroy their aspect. Breath is animus, what motivates people. You're choking people under the weight of their own motivations. Another way to destroy using the aspect is to rust something out (oxidization of metals). I want to see that in action so badly. (Basically what I'm asking for is a Dirk/John class swap because I want to see Dirk as an Heir of Heart and John as a Prince of Breath and ahhhhhhh.)

I'm still not entirely decided on the class, but I am still primarily drawn to Breath for aspect... And I just remembered one of the reasons why: my favorite poem in the world is Guide by A. R. Ammons.

    and
in particular, but all of it. (Imagine my right hand raising, waving swirling, encompassing gestures in the air between us). The sense of seeking completion, the sense of a dissatisfaction that is inate to being an individual. The sense of glimpses, only glimpses, of unity with divine/god/universe/all-being found in motion. The sense that grasping at desires crushes that connection like a closed hand crushes a butterfly; only an open hand, allowing the come-and-go, welcomes the butterfly to stay a time. The sense that looking outside myself for answers is futile, that wisdom comes in the moments when I can peacefully forget the boundaries of my selfhood for a time.

I've avoided reading others' parsings of the poem because of fear that I would the sense and feelings I have about it now... Which might be tragically appropriate? Or inappropriate? The poem seems to me to be about similar ways of understanding that grokking and Thou art God are about, and those require a certain confidence in oneself that you believe you can let others in and understand them--without just replacing yourself with them, or losing yourself.

I like 'Witch of Void' for myself. It even influenced my username. I can't really explain it, it just feels right based off most of the classpect analyses I've read. I get varied results with tests, but I remember getting Witch of Void on the earlier version of Zules's test (and the newer version, now that I've taken it), and it stuck. I'm not 100% on the 'Witch', but 'Void' is definitely my aspect.

All the tests I've taken have placed me as Breath, either Seer or Mage, but I dunno if that's quite right. I've had my doubts about Breath for a long time, mostly cause I've always seen myself as a homebody and kind of clingy? I mean, I've been known to get so overwhelmed by new experiences that I drive myself sick if I don't have someone I know there to act as my touchstone. How is someone like that supposed to embody the very independent aspect of Breath? But having read dahniwithoflight's classpect analysis, I find I actually identify pretty strongly with their Bard of Breath write up. The way they describe it, a Bard of Breath is a bit of a coward, a bit of a homebody, someone who feels like they can't really do anything without someone there to back them up. Someone who feels like the world is too big and everything's too important and that no matter what they do or how they d it they're going to face unforeseen consequences. And I've always been the type to not trust myself with big decisions, for fear of fucking everything up irreparably. So, I guess that's what I'll go with until further notice.

From my skim of their blog, it looks like they go with the theory that classpects are what people want to be and not necessarily who they are yet. And not necessarily what we admit to wanting to be, either. ;)

For what it's worth, their sylph of breath writeup is a mix of who I fear being too much like and yet hope to be more like.

Tests place me at Rogue or Knight, and Breath or Space.
I guess I'm a typical Rogue of Breath, perpetually lost and drifting along. (There's a reason my chosen name is "Kite" ::3)

  9. Silvereye

Silvereye 89 White Paladin Traverses The Cosmos

I found the family tree of Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle/xxxHolic characters in my files and it occurred to me that the only place I've seen more complicated, over-the-top, brainhurting shenanigans than Homestuck is these two mangas. Thus I figured I should try to classpect the characters.

I'd peg Yuuko and Clow Reed as Muse and Lord, since they're sort of orchestrating a lot of the plot behind the scenes, figures they'd be master classes. I'm not too sure about the aspects, though. Yuuko could have Space (the whole dimensions thing), Hope (limitless possibilities and all) or Doom (her existence has indirectly caused a hell of a lot of pain, decay and by-the-rules deals). Clow could have Time (the time-stopping thing), Life (the part where he caused someone to stay alive way past their natural time of death) or possibly something else.

Kurogane is probably a Knight, since he has strong protective tendencies and good fighting instincts that most Knights seem to have. He doesn't have quite as much identity issues, though, so I am not 100% convinced. Again, I'm not too sure about aspect.

Fai is totally Void. He knows a lot of secret data, his past is mysterious and hidden behind his constant fronting, he is slightly separate from his companions due to the aforementioned past/fronting combo and yet he really does not know many crucial things, since either he or someone else has obfuscated his memory. I'm not set on a class though. Possible options are Bard (his lack of knowledge has a body count, so he invites destruction through it), Mage (boy does he get fucked over by (his knowledge of) Void) or maybe Heir (Void is his inheritance and the thing that keeps changing him).

I don't even know about Syaoran and Sakura, their weird loopy meta existence makes them really hard for me to analyse. :mystery:

I have ended up as a Sylph of Space or a Maid of Space. I have decided that I want to be Maid if I have any choice in this matter because god dammit that outfit. To hell with the sexism in our stupid video game, Porrim. THOSE FUCKING PANTS AND BANDAGES.

    I am momming either way.

Okay so I've been thinking about Steven Universe classpects since seeing this pic:

I think Garnet as a Seer of Time is the only one I 100% agree with, though Steven as a Page of Heart might work too (though Heir of Heart would also work, or maybe Heir of Hope).

Amethyst would be fine if it weren't for the fact that Roxy is already a Rogue of Void, but I do think Amethyst would definitely be a Rogue. Rogue of Space, maybe?

Pearl is absolutely a Knight. Knight of Light, maybe. And I think Connie would be a Witch, and not just because holy shit she looks so much like Jade. If we decide to make Steven a Hope player, she could make a good Witch of Heart, I think; if not, I'm less sure about her aspect.

Peridot seems like a Mage to me, due to the technological associations. Maybe a Mage of Mind. And Lapis strikes me as a good candidate for a Maid. Not sure about anyone else but...yeah!

Totally David K So totally David K. Yup. David K, definitely me.

Apologies for being late to the party... My classpect is all over the place. I tend to think of myself as a Page of Heart, but I've had Heir of Hope and Rogue of Rage thrown around there too. *shrugs*

I just can't stop thinking about how they don't have a space player. I hope to god that Connie or some other kid gets in the game and is space because dear god no steven. STEVEN.

Also because I am biased and me and relate heavily to Pearl I tend to associate her with space. That may or may not fit and I do not care because space is the best aspect and all the others can suck it.

So, I'm thinking about writing a RWBY SBURB AU, and I was wondering if anyone familiar with both of those things could tell me what they think of my fanclassings? I have Ruby as the Heir of Time, Weiss as a Knight of Breath, Blake as Rogue of Space, and Yang as a Witch of Hope. I kind of wanted to stick to the color motif within reason, and I also wanted it to be a viable session, so some of them have to fit Time and Space. Blake and Yang are the one's I'm least certain of, though I do think Witch fits Yang pretty darn well.

And just cause I like them and want to talk about them, here's their Lands:
Ruby's got the Land of Crescents and Phases. The land is totally submerged in water, and the phases of the moon reveal sections of the lost world under the endless ocean. There is no sun. Her Denizen is Artemis, and her Consorts are red wolves that live on floating junk barges. (Sent this one into Godteirrpg)
Weiss's got the Land of Dust and Gales. Craggy, canyony sort of place. Consorts are small, white birds. I imagine it's all pretty flat, but with a lot of tunnels and channels gouged out of it by fierce winds. It's pretty cold and sparse on the surface, most of the interesting bits happen underground, in massive subterranean industrial complexes w/attached mines.
Yang's got the Land of Clash and Flair. Sweeping dramatic landscapes, a sort of craggy, mountainous area, looks very ancient china/feudal japan. GOt a very kung fu movie aesthetic. Consorts are yellow dragons, constantly at war with one another, with shifting alliances and more focus on drama than actually solving problems. (Also this one. Changed the details a bit to suit Yang)
And Blake's got the Land of Fangs and Frogs. Consorts are black cats, ruthless and quick to anger. Small planet, covered in dense forests with absolutely massive networks of trees. Consorts live in organic villages made out of shaped living trees, high in the canopy. The forest floor is a dark, treacherous place full of monsters.

I've always liked John a lot and Breath is the element I identify with very strongly. Both in the positive aspects of seeking new things and being unfetted by categories, and the negative aspects of being flightly and unfocused and responding to adversity by running away.

As for class, I think I'd go with Witch. I have the potential to craft and shape fictional worlds and show people new metaphors and ways of thinking. People have often told me that they find my explanations and metaphors to be surprising and refreshing.

The inverse would be a Seer of Blood - I'd interpret "inverse" as "To be a really good X of Y, you also have to be a little bit of an A of B". In my case, I need a firm intellectual understanding of traditions and restrictions so that I can make art that goes beyond them more effectively.

Every test I've done plops me in Knight or Sylph of Light.

Slyph of Light cracks me up, because Healer McHealperson.

But then, I roll the Healer in every RPG and game I play, I'm a notorious meddler/fixer in folks' problems.

Hell even non-Homestuck aspect tests throw me in the Meddling Healer Class.

I've pretty much nailed down Light as my aspect, what with the knowledge/uncovering/shining light on matters thing it has going, with either Knight or Prince as my class. I identify a lot with Karkat and Dave and their knightly self-worth struggles, but the destructive tendencies Dirk has to work to keep reined in hits pretty close to home for me, as loath as I am to admit it. (Also, poofy pants. I can't with poofy pants.)

Trying to find a class :/
I am pretty sure I'd be a mind player, since my skills and flaws are all pretty mind based (mental health issues, smarts, creativity, art shit)
But I cannot place a class. Something that creates with aspect while aspect destroys it? That sounds like two smashed together :/
I considered maid, for all the creation vibes... but it doesnt have the other half. *shrug*

Also found great explanations of all classes and aspects here

Only watched the first season but so far im pretty sure pearl and connie are both knights. Knight of Space for pearl, and knight of light for connie? Pearl is SO NOT HOPE good lord, a million years of not hope idek what this person was on. Seer of time for garnet, yeah. Maybe ruby and sapphire are also time players? Or maybe a time player and a seer? I havent seen enough of them to say. Amethyst could be a thief of void? Greg is def a Bard of Blood and if that doesnt make you cry i dont even know what to say to you.

Steven heals with empathy and understanding, he is totally a sylph of heart. What was Rose, do you guys think? Also heart?

(I really love this show you guys :D)

Edit: OH MY GOSH, if we go with the idea that fusions take the class of one half and the aspect of the other, then sugilite could be a thief of time! I would lol rlly hard at that, not gonna lie. :DDD
