I feel like there's a breakdown in communication here. I don't hate Dorain and I certainly wouldn't consider him a rival. But I know how it feels to be pitied and I know how he feels about being pitied, and frankly both of us are old enough and bitter enough as it is without bringing pity into the mix.

I do love him though. That's the thing that matters to me. Also I prefer the diamond cards, I don't know why. They're deliciously pointy.

[He pats Dorian again, warningly this time.]

It would be a bit hard for me to hate someone who has done so much for me, and never ceases to brighten my days. I am also just a rather bitter man, so I suppose I could seem like I dislike someone when I don't. I think I did that with Bull on accident, not that he thought I hated him but everyone else was rather convinced I hated him.

*Gives Helios a false hurt expression. Puppydog eyes are a go*

I don't even know what's up with words in here like seriously (love) is a catch-all even in Neocybex but then (conjunx-love) and (amica-love) come through as plain "love" here unless I specifically try to make them not???? And frag even knows what's up with (trine) I'm pretty sure we confused the human who was asking earlier...
["Conjunx" will translate roughly as "flushed", while both "trine" and "amica" come out "pale" in Alternian.]

One culture's romance system is hard enough to figure out, unless Venture pays better than the Council I'm not helping with aliens in my off hours.

I wouldn't say I've figured it out, no. Not entirely. It's still not, well, working at all. But the pieces are snapping together.

Morrigan would like to meet you, I'm sure. And I wouldn't let her bully the information out of you - well, that's not to say that I'm any good at managing her, either. Ha! Andraste, did she laugh at me when we met aga- met. I was very much overcome.

 

You would think the dress would be easier to deal with than the. (Gestures mutely at her own torso.) Feathers and things.

You might need a key, of sorts. That was how we had to activate ours at least. A word or an object sometimes, but usually a phrase that unlocks it. If we were outside of this place, I'd offer to help shouting random phrases at it until it activates.

Is it possible being able to study a working one would help, as well? I'd offer my own services, but unfortunately I'm no use at all with the things. All of their magic is so... Elvish -- that is to say, you can feel that it was made by somebody who was thinking in Elvish.

 

That makes sense, I suppose. It feels like how Solas would do magic, and that's a bit like how Dorian does it. And both of those are bit like how I do magic, though less so now that I don't have the mark. It's been harder to adjust, but I think I have the hang of it now.

Of course, there's not an elluvian here for us to practice on, otherwise that would make this entire venture much easier.

 

You can dream up an elluvian, whatever that is, in here, you know...

 

But would it work the way we need it to? Dreaming up things in the Fade creates objects subsumed to your own will, so trying to use the elluvian as an example would fail if we believed too hard that it would work.

Hm. Could we dream up an elluvian that actually connects to the Crossroads, I wonder?

 

*sighs* Yeah, that could be a problem.

And I dunno if you can dream up one that does that. Maybe? I don't think anyone's tried anything like that before in here.

 

Shouting random phrases at it? Why that's brilliant! If a bit obvious. I feel a bit dumb now. Oh, I don't think I want to yell at it just yet anyway. It's still not all put together. There are shards that just won't stay in, you know. Or you don't know, actually. Still they haven't stayed put yet and I don't think I would want to have an elluvian all ready to go when it's still not fixed!

OH! Yes! I can't say I'd be able to piece it all out just by looking at one. It'd be very helpful though, I would think. Getting to see what one is even for and getting a feel of it. Things like that have feelings, you know. You can just tell. Even when it's not doing what it's supposed to be you can.

And thinking in Elvish! I can only dream of that...

 

(drily) I as well.

(turns to Helios) But even then -- we can't say, oh, it didn't act as we wanted it to so it must be real and not following our will... because we might *want* it to fail, then, to prove that we had succeeded.

Oh, this makes my head ache. Merrill, perhaps you can just send a letter to Skyhold when you wake up.
