On another note entirely - is anyone else bothered by how weirdly large the sheds are compared to the actual house? They're like 125% the size of the non-upgraded house. Even the door is too big.

    Yes.

Though, to be fair, my parents had a morton shed on the block of land we lived on for about ten years before they went bankrupt and that fucker was HUGE.

...Now that you mentioned it, I knew a lot of horse people, and 99% of the time the horse barn was at least as big as the place the people stayed in. So there is that?

    Good lord.

A horse barn I can understand, but this is a shed. The interior is only as big as the unupgraded house. The exterior is as big as the actual barn!

Anyway, I'm going to make sheds to match both vanilla and whatever houses I make that are more in line with the relative size to the house.

And the farmer doesn't exactly live in a trailer. I haven't actually seen the shed in-game yet but that sounds vexing.

It's definitely really ??? for me. If it were just large but the door was roughly the same size as every other door in the game I'd be like well, okay, but it's HUGE. A door for giants.

The building footprint only goes up to slightly under the bottom of the... window? vent? - so as long as I make any new sprite at least that tall, it shouldn't have any weird display issues. I can use crates or barrels or something to make up some of the width, too.

Clearly it's for the tractors that don't exist.

Given the size of Lewis' truck, I could easily believe that. The scale is hella weird in this game though x3 The dog is the size of a person. The horse is smaller than the dog.

But seriously, dude that is an EXCELLENT piece of pixel art! You're inspiring me to make some houses myself. Some spooky evil shacks, like let's get some Blair Witch aesthetic up in here.

Eeeexcellent. :3 The more awesome houses, the better.

fwiw I do pixel art with a mouse. It's not any more taxing on me than playing the game, possibly because the scale is a lot smaller than the canvas for any other sort of art.

    Working on a shed:

I made the corrugated metal roof from scratch!

Now I want a more ruinous farm. Something that looks like the broken old buildings you see on the highways in the midwest, leftover from a different economy, a different way of life. That would be a weird thing to do because this is a brand-new beautiful farm that I'm building up myself and maintaining meticulously? I just love the aesthetic.

Maybe I could make a more embarrassing country bumpkin farm. Mason jars. Chalkboards. Barns that have obviously been run into. Kitsch everywhere. Country music wailing in the background

So I'm pissed and having a shit day, I says to myself, I says, "Rue why not zone out via the zen of pixel art." But wait, I think to myself, I don't want to start off too ambitious. "Just make that gothic iron fence you want, just to dip a toe in. Seems easy enough."

@esotericPrognosticator - haha, I'm glad you liked it as much as I did! I'm pretty sure the blog of the person who made it is in the description if you want to check there for more of their stuff.

@Mercury - WOW that house looks super cute! If you do ever end up making matching skins for the rest of the buildings I'd be very interested (Im planning on starting a new save file eventually to try that watery farm and this is totally the right aesthetic)

Well, the rainbow is temporary to figure out which bits are what on the sprite sheet:

Right now the issue is figuring out the right spacing for the little bars. >:| I'm almost there....

So on the last day of spring I got the message that "there was the sound of an explosion in the night," and I found what looked like a giant ore-spawning rock on my farm. When it broke it dropped iridium ore, geodes, and some stone. Is this...a thing??? that happens??? meteors fall on your farm?

    (I love this game)

I FINALLY FIGURED OUT how to remove cheese and wine from casks early! idk how it took me this long, how embarrassing. The pickaxe! You have to hit the casks with the pickaxe to remove your products! Just did that with my wine to remove them while they were all gold star quality instead of waiting for them to hit iridium quality. Figured I'd share!
