It's pronounced "key", at least in the UK.

Edit: I just googled: apparently it's key in the UK, key/kay/kway in the US. I heard it a fair amount growing up, but perhaps there are more quays in England. You're always comparatively close to the sea, tbf.

Edit 2: tho tbh the fact that quay is pronounced key is an annoyance in and of itself

That is why I was very vague on that one; I don't actually know for sure, and I guess the reason is a shit ton of regional variance. English is like that--we take words from so many languages that we mix pronunciation forms and get a lot of false cognates and end up accepting several pronunciations just because... well... can't stop them from happening. It's the... charm? Quirkiness? Of the language?

And yeah, growing up literal days of driving from any ocean contributed to me having no nautical knowledge >u<

    Sorry, what?

As above. Lieutenant is pronounced "leftenant" in England. Although since it's not a common word and there is NO REASON why it would be said that way, I reckon it's in the process of shifting towards the US pronunciation.

    budgie not actually a bird

I was a bb bookworm, which led to me mispronouncing words that I'd read but had never heard. For some reason adults would conclude that this meant that I didn't know what the word meant. It drove me up the wall.

Judging by my vague memories of this one area in toronto, at least some of the time we say quay as key. Queen's Quay is kweenz kee.

I pronounced "inventory" as "inVENTory" for years and thought "segue" was pronounced "seeg" and "segway" was a different word (independent of the little scootery thing).

  15. So, I work in the photo lab at work. Yesterday I had a customer place an order for some 4" by 5.3" size prints. Now we don't have a printer that size, we have a 4 by 6 printer and we cut them to size manually.

Ordinarily that's just an annoyance and part of the job. But this customer ordered over three thousand pictures.

Want more gay rep in video games, but then dealing with the double edge of that is frustrating. Understand general frustration with everyone being bi in videogames because it can occasionally feel like a copout when they don't specifically have some folks who are a single flavor of gay or specifically straight as well to make things more realistic because not every single person is bi in reality... but also I personally bounce between affection and gender presentation with SELF, so deciding to play one character and being barred from love interests without realizing it till it's too late is frustrating as fuck because to manage to smooch them I'D NEED TO REPLAY THE ENTIRE GAME AS THE OTHER GENDER FROM THE START.. AND RESIST THE SAD PANG OF NO LONGER BEING ABLE TO FLIRT WITH SOME PEOPLE AT ALL..

:Frustrated kicking of feet.: Just let me have the option to not have a gender or be both like I want to be bc it's closest, I wish to smooch All The People, I am frustrated being Schrodinger's Gay in real life and being unable to parse it in videogames is making me wanna rip my hair out, just let me Smooch and let me put him in a dress. The romance characters wouldn't have to change, their sexualities are their business. Let me change -myself-.
