Hah yeah I have no idea why someone would think Jasper killed a million Gems. I think that Garnet said something along the lines of 'thousands of Gems were shattered here' at the strawberry battlefield in Rose's Scabbard, though.

I suspect that they are releasing episodes in bursts to heighten emotional stuff? Like, if you only have a day between episodes rather than a week to mull them over, maybe they hit harder? I'm sure they have a good reason.

With how long Jasper's been around that might be like, close to her total if she's fought in a lot of other wars besides the one on earth- but yeah, not from that one alone lol

I guess that depends on Jasper's job description and the rate of gem rebellions and internal conflicts. Like, if Jasper is an expansion focused military type, then the number of gem's she's killed is probably gonna be relatively low compared to the number of, say, hostile aliens who object to gems waltzing in and killing their planets(oddly enough, the post left out the topic of Jasper hurting not-gems. And Amethyst for some reason? It mentioned that she'd hurt Garnet and Pearl "numerous times", and it seemed really weird that Amethyst wasn't in there. We saw as much of her getting hurt as Pearl. Which is to say, we didn't, but.). But if she's a military police, internally focused type, then she's probably killed a good number of gems! Unless making gems is costly, which it appears to be, at least on a large scale. If you can pop out a Pearl in a couple months, or hell, ten years even, then killing gems who act out might just be more efficient than wasting time and resources on rehabilitation that might not even work, but if gem making takes significant time and effort, then killing workers who act out might earn a gem significant reprimand.

Yeah- and I was just going on how long gems have been around, and how often conflict tends to break out between humans. If it's anything like that then I could see her having killed a lot of them. You're right though, she's probably killed way more aliens than gems.

We don't know much about how narrowly focused their jobs might be- Peridot seems to just be tech focused in general. Like she's(presumably) made the robonoids to do maintenance on warps pads and possibly even other gem technology, and she's been ordered to check on the clusters which seems like it should be a completely different branch. It might just be that they're assigned any kind of jobs they would be suited to- Peridot is very technology oriented AND has an excellent way to record events and progress of experiments. meanwhile Jasper is used for muscle in general- she's fought in at least one war and was possibly a commander or fairly high in command then, and she's Peridot's escort. Actually, given that last part I would almost guess that she'd been demoted. Maybe part of why she was so eager to bring "Rose Quartz" back to the homeworld was in hopes that doing so would help her earn her old position back.

Also I still kind of love the idea that Peridot is like Zim and they sent her all the way to earth in hopes of getting rid of her at least for awhile lol.

“average Gem kills 3 Gems a year" factoid actualy just statistical error. average Gem kills 0 Gems per year. Spiders Jasper, who lives in ocean & kills over a million each day, is an outlier adn should not have been counted

Yeah, I've seen some posts about how Jasper has probably been demoted, and I dunno! She doesn't seem very tactical in the fights we've seen her in, so I'm not sure I buy that she was ever a ranking officer. She's very ill tempered and prideful, kind of reckless. Not good officer traits, I reckon. Plus she's not exactly charismatic, and I can't see people following her gladly. I mean, Peridot raised a stink over her giving the order to turn back without checking the clusters, and didn't seem to expect significant reprimand for it. And I feel like if Jasper was used to command, she might be more hostile to Peridot's general lack of respect for her. Then again, maybe Peridot felt certain that even higher higher ups would have her back over this. And maybe Jasper is more patient than I'd think.

It must be some kind of summer promotion, because other shows are getting their own "bombs" too and they all just sort of alternate.

Oh wow, that blog is fantastic! Is it the most recent OOC post, about the 'get your filthy porn hands away from me' thing? And the singling out another RP blog, that seemed kind of rude.

The momcheetopuff blog has a fish feeding game in the background, so they are Best Blog, I will accept no argument to the contrary.

Wait, is it two weeks? Are we getting 2 more Steven bombs then? Because uh, it's the 20th iirc, so two weeks would be at the beginning of July- but the week of Sardonyx is scheduled for the middle of July.

I think of Peridot being the one to handle all Earth related sciencey tech things as a conservation of characters thing. Cartoons tend towards as few characters as possible, so introducing a new gem to handle the organic(?) matter of the fusion experiments wouldn't be as efficient as reusing the tech gem we already had. I feel something similar about how Jasper knocked Steven out, even though we don't know if gems in general can be knocked out. (I wonder if Jasper was surprised to see Steven out cold, like "wait, wat? Broke her? Tricking me??? Rose??") She had to incapacitate him without using the gem destabilizer, cause if she did that then it'd give up the ghost too early.

Uh, this being in response to @Alska's earlier post about gems having broad job descriptions.

Oh yeah probably, but I still think it was interesting to think about. And I mean, the robonoids didn't -have- to be hers lol. They could have gotten away with that without introducing another gem. And the idea of Jasper looking super confused at a passed out Steven sounds hilarious- speaking of that, jaspersorangebuns draws the best confused Jasper XD all their art is really excellent really.

my guesses on Peridot is that she's roughly in the same position on the hierarchy than Jasper, only on a different branch of the hierarchy? like, jasper is a level 5 military and peridot is a lvl 5 tech. or something.

and the robonoids might just be a mainentance thing she was given as mission equipment.

She doesn't seem very attached to them, yeah. She gets so pissed at the Gems for wrecking her stuff and hindering her work, it does seem kind of off that she'd casually destroy a tool like that. Oh, wait, I just remembered! One of them did a thing she didn't like, leaning on her leg or something? Could be that they aren't of her own design, cause then they'd know not to do that? Then again, the watermelon Stevens did a bunch of stuff Steven didn't like... Counterpoint to the counterpoint, Steven's just learning to control his powers. Peridot would presumably have more control over things she's made herself. Also, they are a slightly lighter/softer green then Peridot.

The robonoid that was climbing on her was also damaged IIRC. They seem common enough that it would be easier/more pragmatic to get another one than fix it. At least that's what I think they were going for.

Yup, it was the one that Steven had cracked. I'm not sure if her squishing it or not was to show that they were disposable, or just as a plot device to shock Steven/us or what. Then again, she looked really sort of... Mad? Disgusted? When she saw it was broken, which struck me as sort of strange.

Y'know, I wonder. In We Need To Talk, Rose says 'I'm not a real person' but - it seems kind of like she thought this was something Greg already knew? It doesn't come across like she thinks he's saying she's not real, at any rate. In which case, what exactly do the Gems think about their own personhood?
