Very true! Might not have stopped me in my younger millennia, even. Before I realised what a nuisance most people are.

 

-sniffs at it with the nose on the massive pair of jaws framing her face-

[Orlandeau notices this and kneels in front of juice, wordlessly pulling them into a tight hug]

 

-more vague mumbling that might be an "I missed you" or something similar-

Or, rather, eavesdropping. He's still Not Looking at Burlesque (and thus the people drinking with him), but Scanner is a new arrival with a lot of mystery around him; how could Venture not pay attention to a backstory clue?]

And even if she's come back, there are still consequences to your reactions. I imagine there's more than one person you clowns have emotionally scarred by doing this, so man the fuck up and own up to what you did. Rationalization's for cowards.

I bet if I actually wanted to I could explain away being able to hear narrative text with the rest of my superpowers debillitatingly heightened senses.
