"Good," says Ford. "People from my world, and its many iterations. associate the terms 'Inquisition' and 'Inquisitor' with horrific inhumanity and slaughter, just so you know."

"Of course, and thank you." He smiles at her. He likes the old lady.

"It's okay. I'm Ford. My brother's Stan." Ford thinks for a moment. "Only if you regard interfertility as a barrier to speciation. I'm not sure that's a truly legitimate distinction any more."

 

Stan is still processing what Ford said.

"Wait. I can believe you're part alien, but ... me?"

He takes a deep breath. "And Shermie, and David, and the kids? And Stella or whatever she's calling herself since she ran off to Crown Heights and disowned us all?"

 

Ford shrugs. "You have a girlfriend who is six feet tall and blue. I thought you were done being freaked out by aliens."

 

After a moment, Stan shrugs. "We part cat? I always did think Valiska looked a little like Ma."

 

The textbook said it was. Hm.

 

[He pops into being, looking tired with a pretty nasty bruise swelling up half his face.]

I'm hoping you all are having a better night than I am. Day. Period of time, undetermined. I will be terribly happy once I'm back in Tevinter for a couple days.

 

Ford very nearly chokes on his tea.

 

Good man.

 

Got you, Stan thinks with a grin.

-pours Stan a cup of tea as well-

[He smiles a bit wanly.]

So are we copies or twins, then? I'm assuming twins, but I don't believe I've been formally introduced to either of you, and I don't like making assumptions in the Fade.

 

-looks briefly at helios as well before returning to stare stan in the eye. you are next-

 

(Itch gets misted) No, that's a fact.

 

"Thanks," Stan says, and takes it with a hint of a bow. It's good. It's sweet, which he likes.

"We're twins," Stan says. "Stanley and Stanford Pines. I'm Stan, he's Ford."

 

"We're not even identical twins." Ford laughs. "I've got six-fingered hands."

 

Valiska pounce-hugs from behind. "And a much better ass," she says, grinning. "I think I introduced you to Berit, but not to this gentleman." She looks up at Helios. "I'm Valiska Pines."

 

STOP IT, STOP IT, STOP IT, STOP IIIIIIIIT.

 

[His smile becomes more genuine.]

Twins it is, then. Though you'll have to forgive me if I look at your hands occasionally just to check, I'm not the best at recognizing faces. It's the shame of all my noble friends, not knowing Lady So-And-So on sight.

[He nods to her respectfully, smile dimpling a little.]
