I am sure we have a nightvale thread but I cannot find it and also it probably has spoilers. And I intend to try and remain spoiler free dammit. But I must scream about what happened to Koshekh. This is bullshit. Fuck you Station Management. I miss the old Station Management that was an indescribable horror that made gurgling hell noises that required an oracle to decipher. Those were the good days of NOT HURTING DARLING SWEET PRECIOUS KOSHEKH.

Anyway I guess this is like a liveblogging thread or something? Yeah.

 

Also I am worried about Old Woman Josie. Please be ok Old Woman Josie. You are my favorite. You have angels in your home and are apparently the bedrock upon which this small desert town rests.

Also the thing Cecil said during poetry week about how we are all poems and life is just one big poem in action is the most fucking Celtpol thing in the world you have no idea. I basically sat there vibrating with vile Gaelpolness. It has haunted me since. Also haunting me was the comment about how no one knows what hawks mean. I know what hawks mean. They mean DAD. He is good and loves card games but he is a wily and mysterious man. As all who are raised by the ocean are. There are some other things that get either my Gaelpoliness or my Buddhistness all raring to go in this fucking show.

And did I mention that part of why I love it so is that I have lived in small desert towns much of my life. Like with Fallout New Vegas I just have a fondness for desert towns because I live in desert towns. Some of which near me are all "ALIENS HERE" and shit. And then there is the wonder of living near nuclear testing sites and hearing about them and thinking about them. I love my lovely mojave desert home. Even when I hate it.

I got my mom into Nightvale. We listened to it when heading up the hill abd then back down. We cried about Carlos being trapped in the other desert together while in traffoc.

He speaks Russian. As so many do in Nightvale despite no one understanding it.

 

Oh thank gods an episode all about Kevin and who he was and is and will be. I've wanted something like this for a while.

Caught up with Nightvale and listening to Alice isn't Dead right now. I'm on episode 3 right now. I'm liking it so far. Like with Nightvale one of my favorite things is just how American the story is. It just reeks of America. Its aesthetic and its concerns and that's just beautiful. It also reminds me of Caitlín Kiernan works in a few ways. Lesbians, horror, America, and strange things does that I guess.

 

She also rambles a lot and digresses. The unpaid for piss in McDonald's is the sort of thing you'd see in a Kiernan novel. She'd go on for a bit longer though and be incredibly bitter while doing so though.

Also wow the Thistle Man is neat.

 

Gods there are only 10 episodes out right now. So soon I will be caught up. I guess there is Within the Wires...but what after that and The Orbiting Human Circus of the Air? WHAT I SAY.

there's TANIS and The Black Tapes, if you haven't heard those yet. They take themselves a little too seriously, but there's a reason they're at the top of my podcasts list and that reason is that they're fucking weird and i love them

The Penumbra Podcast is largely about a wonderful bi detective, Juno Steel, and the weird shit he finds himself involved in

Big Data is my favorite podcast, and it's about people stealing the internet. the entire internet. yes, it is possible (in theory).

Return Home is about some friends hunting down supernatural forces, but it doesn't take itself as seriously as most of these types of things do. the narrator's best friend is sortakinda dating the devil. it's fun

The Bridge is set in an alternate universe where someone thought it would be a GREAT idea to build a bridge across the atlantic ocean, and then that went spectacularly badly

The Message (now LifeAfter) is short and weird and you really just have to listen to it

i can continue but i figured i should actually post this list at some point

 

Our Fair City is A+. a little more on the humor side than NV or Alice, but still really good.
Also Kakos Industries. More Like NV, somewhat dark humor, often sexual themes.

 

Thank you both. The Black Tapea were on my list of things to listen to but the rest of these are new to me!
