I think the new euphemisms completely confusing the whole thing are the worst part. What's wrong with mechs today that they misinterprete a simple term like spark-singer.

 

Messily, as such things do. The path wth fewest deaths is not the path with no deaths, nor is the path with no deaths necessarily that which must be taken to advance the turning.

I did not expect things to get quite so messy when I took a trip to look in on other obligations, but... such is the price of looking too far ahead. [She shrugs, a little uncomfortable. She is not proud of what happened in her absence, or that she was gone in the first place.]

Oh, a living planet! [She perks up a little, optics brightening.] We did our best not to settle on those, honestly, it felt rather too much like barging in on someone else's space, but that you've managed to negotiate a treaty with one... She's protective, you said? Of everyone who comes, or just those who decide to stay there?

No. [She raises a wing to invite him in.]

They've got all kinds of fancy terms for that now, but somehow they never use the best one when they talk about...

Most of Pr-- of Nova's children don't even know sparks can sing, much less what resonance sounds like. Not their fault they've forgotten.

 

My spark doesn't sing.

 

Does if you know how to make it! Even with your ability. It just sings silently. All sparks sing.

 

Does it not sing at all, or is it just silenced by the same power that keeps your movements muffled?

 

Well, are you saying it's still moving to sing but nobody can hear it?

 

[He humms in agreement]

That you think you can defy cosmic forces at all counts as blind optimism.

Probably! Though you might find someone one day who can hear it. Outlier powers are tricksy things. I don't know what's gonna pop up most of the time and I create most of them.

Yeah, sorry. Sometimes it just kind of happens.

 

Prima and Nexus had sticks up their tailpipes, and their successor took lead of most of the survivors that stayed on Cybertron. And most of the rest of us lost spaceflight capabilities, so our populations were necessarily restricted. Two wars or no, those stifled 'ideals' remain the most widespread.
