Here's a gripe: obvious fetish fic being desperately smeared in sj language in an attempt to pretend that it's not obvious fetish fic. Like christ dude, I understand that you're worried about antis (and really, I do understand) but refusing to tag for fetish shit and then turning around and getting outraged at commentors who are like "hey this is some good fetish stuff" because no, it's righteous and pure is... c'mon dude. You're not fooling anyone. (See also: authors who righteously list ethnicities of various characters in the tag and then make absolutely no effort to give the characters those ethnicities in their writing. If you're going to smugly state in the tags that a character is muslim and then carefully never mention it again in the fic, you might as well have not tagged it at all.)

Oh yeah. I read Homestuck fic as I think my first proper nsfw and now I think my brain is wired to expect tentabulge-nook combos as the bare minimum of xeno you need to have.
I'm okay with standard human junk on mostly human looking aliens (human-y trolls, asari, vulcans, etc.) but once it starts getting put on very nonhuman aliens (non-human-y trolls, carapaces, turians, krogan, etc.) it hits that uncanny valley place that things like supremely animalistic furries with human dongers hits, where it's like seeing a hyperrealistic mouth photoshopped onto a cartoon character.
I don't mind human bits on aliens, I just resent when authors tag that as xeno. I'm in that tag for a reason, and that reason is weird bits.
That said, people who get angry about human looking aliens having human looking junk makes me ???? because... they look human everywhere else too, dude. I'm thinking some of the people who get righteously angry at anyone who dares to depict one of the crystal gems with a vagina because WHY WOULD THEY EVER when like... Rose Quartz continues to exist in canon, dudes.

ok with lance going off meds because Suddenly Adventure, it WOULD be cool to see a fic where he's got ADHD and is now desperately trying to cope with it, while learning to be a robot-piloting alien-fighting superhero. he doesnt MEAN to be an irresponsible, distractible goof, he's just, having problems focusing on lessons, remembering critical info and proper procedures, keeping tasks in order, prioritizing what needs to be done by when... and those are things members of a military squad really really need to do! and he's already insecure. and the class clown, the goofball, everyone is at least RESIGNED to him being an irreverent fuckup. and who is he going to admit to being 'defective' or 'inadequate' to? shiro, the war hero? keith, his talented rival? pidge, the cranky child genius? ALLURA, who has shot lasers at them to get them motivated enough, who is very clearly desperate to wring basic functionality of the only guys she has to work with? who already has made it pretty clear she's not charmed or amused by lance? who's constantly fretting over whether the humans will be anything near good enough...? who's entire people died in this war that lance is just going to say 'hey, maybe we'll all die anyway, because im fucked up enough that piloting a gigantic flying telepathic robocat gets BORING.' maybe hunk knows. and is worried for him. but hunk already has his own issues about fighting this war! and also hunk manages to rise above them and be very heroic anyway! so. lance will just... try harder. he can do it. he has to do it.
