    Oh!!!! My god!!! Oh my god!!!! Victor fucked up so bad!!!!!!!! Yuuri is not someone who preforms best under pressure!!! He's not someone who need strict competition or high stakes!!! He's a man raised in Japanese culture who just wants quiet support!!! Christ!! He fucked up so bad but then he fucked up SO GOOD!!!!

    Oh my god!!! O h my god I can't even kind of calm down!!! It's the full gay motherfuckers it is the full fucking gay!!! Victor was so happy and shocked by Yuuri's skating that he had to just fucking plant one on him and then knock him into the ice!! "That was the only thing I could think to do that would surprise you as much as you surprised me!!" And then Yuuri sounded so sweet!! So loving!!! He just sighed so gently and held Victor tight!!! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!

    I also loved Yuuri being legit pissed off at him!! "Wow Victor sure does have some flaws! He knows I'm a small anxious katsudon why would he put so much pressure on me!!! Imma be kind of a bitch to him but in a way that highlights the close personal relationship we've grown!!" Hopefully this foreshadows some actual delving into Victor's character and seeing why he gets so temperamental and what exactly makes him tick so strangely as the show progresses!!! THEYRE KISSING AND ITS EPISODE SEVEN

    AND I'M ALSO REALLY PROUD OF PICHIT HIS ROUTINE WAS SUPER FUCKING GOOD!!!!!

    Victor thinks he's going back to Russia after this but will Russia take him back??? Like??? They don't like the full gay???

    Guys. Guys.

    Listen to me. I am completely in love with this show. Do any of y'all speak Japanese because there are layers to this that aren't coming through and the layers are not only incredibly homosexual but also sweet in ways you don't often see in anime!

    For example, the tagline for episode 4, 自分を好きになって, is not simply "love yourself" like what's shown in the translation, and it's not the typical Japanese "become a person worthy of love," no! It's become a person who loves themself. The message is not get better at what you do in order to love yourself and recognize your full potential, which would be incredibly common in a sports anime. It's simply, you should become the kind of person who loves themself, as you are. The only change that Victor wants to see from Yuuri, really, is for him to love himself. AAAAAAA!!!

    I also want to note, when things are gendered they are gendered beautifully and that the subs are unnecessarily gendering some things and it's pissing me off. No one ever asks if Yuuri has ever had "a girlfriend," they've asked if he's had a lover. No one has ever assumed any kind of gender for Yuri's preferences and that's fucking beautiful and unusual. It's waaay more likely for people to actually use gendered words for girlfriend and boyfriend because it connotes a type of relationship that's less serious and more lighthearted, but they go for the gender neutral word that connotes a serious relationship instead because there are NO assumptions about Yuuri's sexuality! I LOVE THIS.

    Stay tuned for more of me rambling about shit that's translated poorly, because the show keeps being even more gay and progressive than the subs are letting on and that's just. Wow. <3

    Omg I've started watching it bc it took me this long to discover that my Japanese Amazon Prime membership comes with TV shows and movies and MAN YES I NOTICED THESE THINGS. Ok I'm only at ep 2 but Victor only ever uses the word "koibito" when he asks Yuuri if he is in/has been in a relationship sooooo I meannnnnnnnn

    Yes, like I said, when things ARE gendered, they're done deliberately. That's not an off hand comment, he goes out of his way to ask his ballet instructor to teach him to move in more feminine ways. It's actually integrated into his training and not just a throw away thing, and aaaaaaaaaaaa I love it so much!

    This show is an absolute delight, and I'm so glad Kintsugijin are also watching it.

    Worth noting: the personal pronouns Yuuri is using when he skates the Eros program both ways.

    The first time, when he's competing with Yurio, as Yuuri skates the program, the pronoun he uses for himself is "atashi", which is very feminine. He's taken on the role of the beautiful woman in the playboy-seducing story.

    When he skates the Eros program in competition, after he's decided he's going to make everyone hate him for stealing Victor away (=D =D =D), he's using his usual personal pronoun "boku", which is generally a masculine pronoun. He's skating as himself, the man who is seducing Victor.

    It's also interesting to note that あたし is like, an affected personal pronoun. No one uses it outside of like, dramatic novels/tv shows and historical dramas. Yuuri is very clearly affecting a persona, one that he connects with, but one that's not fully him. He benefits from connecting with this feminine self, but he needs to integrate that into his understanding of himself and not play pretend with it, which Victor encourages. Hence the use of ぼく after being told to be himself without a dramatic change in the feminine style of that routine. c:
