Clandestine Snippet Sharing (for secretly sharing WIPs)? idk, I want to feel like I'm sneaking one past The Man but doing it in a fun and silly way, I guess. Edit: Did the thing.
tfw you realize you gotta rewrite an entire scene because you forgot a Very Important Plot Detail and it can't just be shoehorned in with an extra sentence or four I'm counting the erased scene for words anyway cos I'm like four days behind by numbers now, but like why this OTL
this week has been terrible and I've missed a bunch of days because of election anxiety and then a bunch of anhedonia that followed. but i'm gonna keep at it and try to make word count today.
Bad news: I'm behind to the tune of about 6500 words. Not an insurmountable amount to catch up on, but not easy either, and I'm going to lose at least 2 days later this month to Thanksgiving travel. Good news: I ironed out my two thorniest plot problems and I should be in a good place to go full speed ahead. Bad news: Solving one of the plot problems means I'm probably going to have to tear out a scene I've already written. I'm not deleting the words, though.
Does anyone want to do word sprints with me tonight after work? Maybe 9 eastern? I will cheer for everyone!
I might be able to join too, should be fun. I've missed way too many days, but maybe this can get me writing again
I was thinking we could hop on Discord and do 15 minute sprints + 5 minute breaks until we get tired?
okay. I've done the thing I always seem to do when writing longish fic. And now I have a new plot bunny stomping on my face but it would work better as the second part of the series than the first. It's possible to integrate them both and just sorta morph the fic I'm writing now into the new idea, but like I said, it feels like it would be better as book 2. Anyone here have advice?
Everyone works differently, but if it were me - make notes about it, then set it aside and continue on with the thing you were already doing. If you're pretty sure it'd work better as book 2, trust your gut rather than trying to force it. You may later decide that it will work better integrated into the thing you're already writing, but if it happens it happens.
Because I jump back and forth from desktop to handwriting with no transitions on the handwritten end, my notebook currently jumps from "dramatic battle injury" straight to "midpoint of porn" and it's late enough that this is hilarious to me
I'm not even going to make a half-speed goal thanks to American politics going to hell in a handbasket. THANKS, DONALD MCJONALD. Still chipping away at it, though.
